Kino
Kino was relieved that the leafeon agreed with her, although she wasn't sure that the other eeveelution was genuine or just agreeing for appearances. Either way, they weren't leaving the forest to be prey to the grimer.
Kino watched and waited when the leafeon tried to speak to the grimer, bemused by the grass-type's choice in trying to get the poison-types to leave. Attempting the peaceful option was fine by Kino, but hadn't the leafeon already tried that? If it didn't work the first time, what made her think it'd work a second time? Predictably, the grimer ignored the spoken words and approached the group. Surprisingly to Kino, the leafeon backed away, signalling to Kala to do the fighting. The umbreon wondered what the relationship between the two others was, that they acted the way they did, but she couldn't dwell on her thoughts because one of the grimer was closing in on her fast, attempting to attack her.
The umbreon jumped back, avoiding the pound attack. She didn't retaliate, however, deciding it would be better to try and co-ordinate a fight with Kala rather than rush in individually. If the latter occured, Kino imagined it would cause chaos, with her and the type:null getting in each other's way instead of working together. Kino knew it might not go that way, but she'd prefer to be safe than sorry, especially with the fact that she wanted to win this particular fight.
Silence ruled Kala as she looked upon the scene. The umbreon had changed her mistress's mind. Her nerves were on end as her body prepped itself for the potential battle. She shifted her paws restlessly as she resisted the urge to make a pre-emptive strike against the grimer. It would have been an assumption that would have ended badly for her if she were to attack, but that was not the sole reason she was held back. The very idea of attacking them just for being here seemed kind of...wrong? What gave them any reason to request their departure? The null was completely ignorant of the potential damages the poison types could cause the forest. Indria had finished speaking, but the grimer had started to advance towards them.
"Kala," the voice rung straight to her ears as she stood tall. She understood the order without needing it spoken...or at least, she thought she did. Fortunately, the gesture the leafeon made only confirmed her idea of what was requested of her. Without care or consideration for what Kino was doing, the Type:Null had charged forward. She lowered her head slightly before bringing it up to ram the targeted grimer off to the side. She made no attempts to coordinate her attacks with the umbreon and instead Raged against the poison type. Once she had given one of them a good strike, she had turned to lash out at the other, which had attacked Kino, with her claws. The claw sunk into the other grimer, however, it had not done any effective damage to the pile of sludge and simply acted as if she had just plunged her forearm into mud.
The grimer she had struck earlier had recollected itself while the second grimer she had attacked pinned her to the spot. The first grimer flung itself at her helm and began to use the hindrance against her. The weight of the grimer made it difficult to lift her head as noxious fumes were released into the healm. The grimer blinded her with its body as the holes by the ears began to release a poisonous gas into the air before the grimer attempted to cover those as well.
The null flailed her helm back and forth in the attempt to throw off the creature but failed. She had managed to release her claw but focused more on trying to pull the grimer on her helm off. The remaining grimer, however, seemed far more interested in the two eeveelutions rather than helping its friend...
Despite harboring no intention of actually joining in the fight, Indria still found the whole situation to be a chore. The simple act of standing around wasting time for Kala to deal with the two grimer was an annoyance, and not one she was fond of having to sit through. Every moment she spent waiting on these two to do their fighting thing was another moment she spent in the clutches of the wilderness. At first, she was hopeful that Kala would handle the situation quickly; the null started off strong by seemingly dominating one of the globs of goop before swiftly moving on to the next. Unfortunately, the sheer power of these attacks seemed to do nothing in the long run, only serving to momentarily debilitate one of the grimer and doing absolutely nothing to the other. Actually, her second attack only served to get the null's paw stuck, which led to the other toxic pest leaping onto the restraint mask of the trapped creature. It was impressively mobile for something that was quite literally just a living pile of sludge.
Kala was clearly having trouble dealing with a combination of toxic fumes, suffocation and blindness, but Indria held no interest at all in helping. Surely, the umbreon would be able to cover that; and besides, she had her own problems to worry about. For instance, the grimer holding Kala in place's attention seemed to have shifted... And of course, who else was unlucky enough to become its focus but the grass-type with a vulnerability to it? Instantly, she darted in the opposite direction of the thing so as to discourage it from pursuing her, and it worked. Its attention shifted once more, this time to the umbreon where it belonged. This meant Kala would probably be getting no help, but on well; what were these two for if not to fight on her behalf? Alas, despite her best efforts it seemed she would still have to join in... She was fortunately attentive enough to spot another grimer emerging from the foliage to her left through her peripheral vision. Its eyes instantly locked onto her, probably because she was the only one not yet being assaulted. Before it could even start slinking toward her, she spun and whipped her tail in its direction; leafy growths appeared on the appendage and quickly broke off into sharp projectiles. These razor-sharp leaves flew into the grimer at too high a speed for it to react to, but they seemed to do nothing upon penetrating its... sludge. They sank into the grimey body of the purple abomination as it crept toward her, to which she responded by backing away for more distance.
The leafeon repeated her maneuver of spinning and firing razor leaves at the grimer, with no change in the outcome. Again and again she tried, but her attacks seemed to do very little to deter the foul being. Her focus tunneled in on it as she searched for a way to deal with it without having to resort to getting her paws dirty, but a spray of some white substance suddenly shooting down from above forced her to pay attention to something else. She jumped away from what she assumed to be another attack, moving to the side so as not to position herself closer to her attacker. She looked to the ground where the strange substance had landed only to find that it seemed to have been aimed for someone else entirely: another grimer. This one bore an appearance closer to living oil spill rather than the purple look of the others, but more importantly, it was stuck to the ground by a coating of silky webbing. It surely wouldn't be held for long due to its liquid body structure, but it had still stopped the filthy creature from catching her.
She wondered who or what had decided to bail her out of what would have been a very unpleasant mess, but not for long. Her question was answered almost instantly by the feeling of something landing on her head. She flinched in recoil, then looked up to see a very familiar set of eyes peering down into her own. It was her personal stalker, the spinarak. "Really?" she spoke in a mix of bewilderment and agitation. She would have thrown the creature off once more if not for the fact that it was apparently helping her. She didn't like having its body all over her head, but it was better than letting a grimer grapple with her. "Fine, but don't get used to this." She whipped her tail at the freely moving sludge bucket and sent another flurry of leaves at it, getting the same result as before. She would have tried something else if not for the fact that she didn't have anything else. Well, that wasn't entirely true, but she didn't have anything else she was actually willing to use. Fortunately for her, she had her new sidekick there to spit a heap of stringy web at her pursuer and slow it down, and that's just what the little spider did. She couldn't believe this thing was still so interested in her after what she was pretty sure had been multiple very clear messages to stay away. At that, it was practically rescuing her for whatever reason, apparently holding some unnaturally high degree of interest in her.
Despite her newfound help, Indria was now being pushed back toward the others by the two new grimer that had effectively boxed her - and her two effective bodyguards - in. Their movement was inhibited, but she knew no amount of spider silk would stop them entirely. It was just delaying the inevitable. She heard the spinarak atop her take in a deep breath; it admittedly sounded adorable but there was no force that could make the self-absorbed leafeon admit to such a thing. She felt the spider's grip and weight on her head seemingly lighten, which confused her... then she felt the same lightness in her own body. Her rapid breaths became slow and calm with no effort on her part, actually soothing her to an extent. She was confused as to what was happening, but it was clearly the spinarak's doing. Whatever it was, it made her every movement feel swifter by the second.

Her lungs screamed for a breath of fresh air, but each intake only seemed to fuel her lungs with the toxic waste once more. The null cried out for help, but it would not come. She could not see what was beyond the darkness the grimer had plunged her vision into as she shook her head repeatedly, each attempt to throw it off becoming more and more fierce. Eventually, the null gathered the wit to cease her erratic movements and bring her claws up to the grimer in attempt to pull it off. Her claws reached up desperately and sunk into the muck of the being. The grimer cried out in pain, a response that encouraged her, but her plan would fail as she found that she could not pull the poison type off.
Her claws slipped through the sludge with ease as she grew increasingly more frustrated with both the lack of progress and the damage that was certainly being dealt to her. A fear began to strike her as the panic of the situation began to sink in. The null's sense was lost as her claws dug into the grimer and pulled. The grimer took damage from the attempt, but still its body could not be pulled off.
She gave up in the endeavor, as she felt despair overcome her. She couldn't do it. She had no way! Where was everyone else? The heart that was not truly her own began to pound. Kala could not stop herself long enough to think about the situation as her mind began to race with the thoughts of how useless she was being at that moment. She was being bested by a single pokemon, a grimer even. A simple, feral, pathetic pokemon that Indria trusted her to take care of yet she was being utterly humiliated in front of her master with this pile of slop.
Rage began to build once more with the creature as her panic and despair converted itself into anger. The Null lifted her head back, grimer still attached, and slammed the mask into the ground in an attempt to both vent frustration in a physical manner and force the poison type to release her. To her fortune, it worked. The grimer was stunned by the blunt damage and fell off of the helm like a sack of rocks. Kala did not take the time to savor the refreshing new air as she instead continued her assault on the single grimer. It only took a few more blows before the grimer was knocked aside and out of the match.
She looked for her friends, but she could not see where Kino had gone. She did not bother to look for long as she set her sights on Indria. What was that creature on her head? Was she being attacked by that spider pokemon!? The panic and eagerness to redeem herself from the clear embarrassment she was just put through pushed her to assume the worst as she labeled the Spinarak an enemy and began to charge to her master's 'rescue'.
Indria Idris ooc// Winter poofed so we're going on without her.
Even with the spinarak's silky string, Indria had no idea what she was supposed to do about the two grimer. She took another step back and danced another quick circle, flinging more leaves out at the grimer she had continuously targeted, still doing little to slow it down. It had to be hurting at least a little, right? She took another look over at the other two only to see Kala still struggling and Kino... Where was Kino? It took her a moment to locate the umbreon, collapsed on the ground a bit of distance from where she had been before, with the grimer that'd attacked her now slinking away and toward Indria herself. She took her eyes away and hoped the umbreon was just unconscious and not something worse, and almost immediately after, she noticed Kala finally dealing with the grimer on her mask in perhaps the most ungraceful way possible. Still, there were three more of the little monsters to worry about now, and with how the null had fared against only one, Indria knew there was no way around it.
She huffed in agitation and accepted that she would have to fight. She rushed toward the grimer she'd continuously targeted instead of backing even further away, and with the sudden complete change of tactics, it was caught off-guard. She rammed straight into it despite the repulsion, seemingly tearing herself straight through its mucky body thanks to the many leaves filling it and weakening its bonds. The grimer melted to the ground in an almost truly liquid puddle, finally incapacitated, but her decision to throw a tackle had resulted in her being far too close to the other one. The spinarak atop her head spat another flurry of silk at the remaining oily-looking grimer, but again, this only served to slow it down. Indria could have simply backed away yet again, but she recalled she now had another grimer approaching from behind... and she didn't want to risk being overwhelmed if Kala couldn't handle it. She stomped aggressively toward the disgusting critter in front of her, spine bristling in agitation at how she was having to sully her fur over this, and her body began to emit a faint red glow seemingly along her veins. The small-minded simpleton of an opponent slunk blindly toward her, reaching its arms out to grab onto whatever part of her it could.
As the two neared, Indria suddenly reared up on her hind legs, raising herself tall above the grimer. The glow of ley lines coating her body intensified as she threw her front paws down, slamming them over the pile of sludge and quite literally splattering it against the ground; small bits of the creature were even thrown out of its body all over the place... including on the leafeon atop it. "Uhg!" she spat as she stumbled away from the mess, already feeling the flood of weakness in the aftermath of the giga impact. The colored markings vanished from across her and she shook from the effort it took to stay standing, now panting to catch her breath. She was absolutely filthy; she could feel the and smell the rancid substance that now practically coated her, splayed from her chest and belly all the way up to her face. She would probably have to take a thousand baths to get it out of her coat, but at least she had reduced the amount of grimer to just one. She figured Kala would be able to handle one more, which meant she could let herself collapse and rest...
She threw herself back on instinct at a flash of movement in the corner of her eye. As she fell clumsily to the ground, she watched Kala rush past her, seemingly swiping a paw at her head. Was her guard now trying to kill her!? Had the damned thing huffed too many fumes during the altercation and gone mad? No... Indria realized what was going on when she felt the movements of the spinarak adjusting its position on her head. Now there was another grimer creeping out of the shrubbery... followed by what appeared to be a much, MUCH bigger version of it. This situation was getting more and more annoying by the second with Kala's faults and the ever-increasing danger. "No, this thing's fine!" she nodded upward at the spinarak in tune with her words in an attempt to gesture toward it. She then stretched her left paw out at the "fresh" new arrivals before continuing, "Get THEM!" She still wasn't too fond of her passenger, but it was currently providing a service she didn't want to forfeit by letting her guard maul it.
Her insect-like talons whished through the air just inches away from the bugger that latched itself onto Indria. The null's eyes glowed with an ever-increasing anger. The armor on her head clinked and shifted as she turned to strike the creature off once more. She was completely confident in her ability to attack the spinarak and only the spinarak, however, she was stopped. The frustration of her master rung through her hears as she was instructed not to attack the thing that seemed to be so obviously harassing Indria. She hesitated as she processed the order. Her attention flicked towards the newcomers. More Grimer. Just what she needed.
The null did not respond to Indria with any understandable sound beyond a grunt. She pivoted herself to face the grimer under the direct order of her master. The weapon launched herself towards the newcomers, though she seemed to have a bit more luck in her attack. She pounced forward onto the newcomer, her insectoid talons outstretched as she landed directly onto the grimer's facial area. There was a sickening 'splat' as the puddle of muck was forced back towards the ground, but panic rose as Kala realized she was now unable to remove her claws from the monster. The puddle of sludge began to crawl up her fore-arms as she struggled to toss it off. Panic resumed once more, but this time she was able to pry the slime off and escape before it could reach her mask.
Despite how 'crushing' them seemed so ineffective, the null would try again. A grimer that was near Indria this time, she targeted. The null crouched and pounced onto the sludge monster, her claws dug into the poison type and forced its attention on her. If she could not beat them, then she would just get them to focus their attention on her. As this grimer too began to claw its way up her legs, she attempted to pounce again onto the other grimer. She did not account for how difficult it would be to move. She missed. Frustration rose once more as she struggled to get this new grimer off of her now. Guilt and fear crawled along her body as she failed to do the most basic job of protecting her creator.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," her quiet voice shook and wavered. Her eyes were wide with shock as she fully realized how useless she was being. Her lungs now seemed to struggle against the clean air as her body desperately tried to replenish itself with oxygen. They needed to flee, but Kala only knew how to fight. Indria Idris,
Of course Kala's response couldn't be perfect, as if it ever were, but at least the blind animal had stopped upon command. Indria would have hoped for her guard to have targeted the giant muk instead of the more lowly foes that she was pretty sure she could handle herself, but alas, it seemed she was the one being left to deal with the big bad. Maybe it was better this way since Kala seemed to be struggling against these opponents; blind assault was a very bad way to handle fighting something composed of malleable toxic sludge, but that was the only way the null could really fight. Indria, on the other hand, was a fair bit weaker but capable of thinking before rushing in. She didn't know how she was supposed to take down a muk with her very limited pool of attacks and very much disliked the idea of rushing it with her giga impact like she'd done to one of the grimer prior, so she settled on the decision to kite it around until she could think of something to do about it. It was slow and she wasn't, which meant she could probably stay a comfortable distance from it without too much effort, even if she couldn't really hurt it much.
The real concern in Indria's mind was how her small-minded little Kala would fare against two grimer at once. The null seemed to be having serious problems with getting stuck to them and being unable to get them off, which didn't bode well. Such a big creature with such a clunky style of fighting would be incapacitated easily under the strategy the grimer were employing, but what was there to do about it? Indria couldn't very well focus on everything at once, and she needed to make sure she had her full attention on the more dangerous foe... and vice versa. Reluctantly, she would have to leave Kala alone and hope the both of them could handle what they had been given to deal with. Besides... ultimately, it was a tool created to serve and protect her, and right now, she needed that. Maybe with the help of the spinarak, she would be able to deal with the intimidating multicolored muk somehow, and Kala... would just have to manage. "Use your-" the leafeon started up before pausing in remembrance of how the last time she'd said those words to her guard had gone. After a bit of revision, she tried again, "Calm down and think before you strike! You can't just claw these things to death."
Technically, hacking away at them would probably work eventually, but there surely better ways to go about handling this. With her words of advice given, Indria whipped her tail around and sent a flurry of leaves darting into the muk, ensuring its attention was locked on her. A part of her wanted to flee and simply leave this forest at the mercy of the living pollutants, but she wondered if Kala would be able to break free from the slimy creatures long enough to follow her, let alone WANT to. At that, while the state of this place wasn't their problem, it still seemed wrong to just turn tail and leave. Did Indria care about right and wrong after all? Maybe just a little. She backed away from her ally's battle and took care to avoid the unconscious umbreon as well, moving slow enough to allow the muk to trail close by so she could keep its focus.
"C'meeeere," the hideous creature gurgled in a very low and rugged voice as its arms reached out for the leafeon in front of it, just barely coming short of her. She was making sure to keep it at a very specific distance so it couldn't quite touch her, and it seemed to be working. Whenever its hands got close, she spun and smacked them with her tail, cutting into them; it didn't do anything to slow the beast down, but it momentarily deformed its arms and sent a little of its body mass flying away each time. She may not have been able to boast a full-fledged leaf blade, but her tail was still quite sharp and capable of slicing through things. The spinarak perched atop her loosed a spray of silk on the muk to further inhibit its movements, then another, and another. Before long, the creature had slowed to a crawl and Indria shifted to a more aggressive pattern of attack, darting around to the side of the creature before swiping at its body with her tail. She moved behind it as it swirled around and threw an arm out at her, avoiding the attack with ease before cutting into it once more with her blade. Again dumb creature responded in the most predictable way possible by turning and lunging for the leafeon chipping away at it, and again she simply moved, this time stepping aside to her right and allowing its body to move right past her and splat against the ground. She expected it to pull itself back up within an instant, but to her surprise, it seemingly lost its form and melted right into the ground.
The leafeon stepped idly back for no particular reason, bewildered at this turn of events. By all means, she should have barely hurt the foe, and yet its body seemed to have just spontaneously fallen apart right in front of her. Had it been injured by something else beforehand, or was it deceptively weak? Even the many grimer had demonstrated far greater durability than this pathetic display! Indria couldn't help but let out a giddy laugh at having bested the beast so easily; it wasn't that she felt pride, but rather, she was looking forward to ending this fight quickly and going the Hell home. Her head swiveled around to see how Kala was doing, but she froze as a painful sensation shot through her entire body. Before she knew it, she had shadowy spikes jutting out of the ground and sticking into her body all over. She was, thankfully, more capable of taking a hit than she appeared, and so the spikes didn't get too far into her. They honestly didn't seem to have much force behind them in the first place, but it still hurt and effectively immobilized her for the moment. This was the first time she had actually been struck during this altercation, though it would have been a mere nuisance if not for what came next.
Just as the solid shadows melted away, a familiar multicolored goo began to rise up from the ground around her, immediately snaring her paws. She gasped and tried to pull away, but the living sludge followed and tugged against her as it crept up her body. The spinarak launched a string of web up to a branch of a random tree overhead and used it to swing itself away. Was it just abandoning her?? Some fanboy this thing was turning out to be. She tugged and pulled against the toxic mess wrapping itself around her, but it moved with her and kept her within the ever-growing trap of its body. This was starting to look bad. She felt a line of silk smack her right shoulder and trailed her eyes up it to see a familiar little spider. It was now clinging to the side of a tree, pulling against its webbing in an attempt to help free her. For some creature that seemed completely feral and incapable of speech, this thing was impressively intelligent. Indria began to wonder if it was actually just mute or something, but far more important thoughts quickly forced that out of her mind; thoughts such as...
Is this seriously how I'm going to die?
The muk's poisonous flesh crept up her neck and began making its way around her head, blocking her mouth and nose off from the air. She shut her mouth tight to keep the disgusting creature from being able to... intrude, and she pulled ever harder to escape. Even with the aid of her spinarak comrade, she felt completely immobilized at this point, and the muk was now beginning to pull her down toward the ground. It was all she could do to fight to stand up against its, but this was a battle of strength she was quickly losing. She strained to keep her eyes open as the world grew fuzzy and sludge crept around her face.
Suffocated by the physical embodiment of all that is wrong with the world? As if this isn't a bad enough end already, the last thing I'm going to experience is the taste of this vile thing!
Trivial complaints and objections to this very serious situation raced through her head. There was no way she was escaping this way, and she doubted she could count on Kala at the moment, which left only one thing. She knew her limits well enough to know she was going to hurt herself if she pushed her body any harder, but she didn't have much choice here. Even under a very immediate threat of death, she felt annoyed more than anything else.
If I am to die, it's going to be in a politically driven assassination, not smothered by living garbage in some reject nature reserve!
Red lines surged over the leafeon's veins once more, pulsing with a burning aura that emanated faintly through the few areas of her body still free of the enclosing muck. She was still recovering from using Giga Impact just once, and she would need to push herself even further this time, but she would have to worry about the inevitable consequences later. She couldn't do anything otherwise, and she didn't want to wait and hope Kala would come to her aid. She began to feel the burn of overexertion almost immediately, but she would need to get past it if she wanted this to work. Her left paw ripped free from the grip of the viscous glue, followed by a portion of her leg, and she stamped it down as far away as she could get it before moving the other leg and pulling herself forward. Slowly but surely, little by little, she was pulling her fur free of the muk clinging to her. It felt like ripping off tape, but she tolerated this on top of the painful amount of adrenaline coursing through her and persevered.
One firm step after another, continuously fighting against the enemy with every beat of her heart and every pulse through her veins, she strove onward... and it wasn't enough. She could feel the tendril-like slime crawling back over her with every step she took to free herself, and it was tugging with increasing force as it realized she was actually capable of fighting back. She still felt as if she was stronger than it, but it had far more body mass than her and was now simply pulling her weight with its own. Her paws slid along the ground as the monster slowly dragged her back into it, and while she was able to stay standing, her efforts to reach freedom were failing. She felt so annoyed at the idea that she could die here just because she had lost her pet and gone out alone to find it; and to add insult to injury, the thing claiming her life was about the most unflattering killer one could ask for. She had only just begun to succeed in life and reap the benefits, so she simply couldn't allow this fiend to best her! The glow of the marks coating her intensified, followed by a strange and somewhat high-pitched sound almost like whirling wind. Her body and its aura were being pushed far beyond their limits, but at this point, she was so filled with adrenaline that she couldn't even feel the backlash.
The leafeon's paws pressed into the ground with such force as to burrow through the grass and into the soil, giving her the grip she needed to fight against the muk. She could see the spinarak had stuck its web to the tree, so she snapped down at the end of it still connected to her shoulder and pulled. While she gained distance, the muk's body seemed to stretch and keep its hold on her instead of breaking away. It kept itself tied to her until finally being pulled to its limit, at which point the vixen was torn free all at once and quite literally thrown forward by her own power. She tumbled and collapsed weakly with the surge of energy already rapidly abandoning her, coughing and gasping for air in this moment of remission. Noticing the body of the muk regaining its natural form and slinking toward her, she willed herself to move in any way she could, crawling along the ground and lifting herself in short, limping bursts before falling. Another spray of string flew over her head and splayed itself over her pursuer, but she didn't dare waste time looking back to see how effective it was. She managed to get herself to a somewhat-sustained position on her legs and off the ground before finally glancing at the muk. It was close, but still slower than her even with the crippled state she was in.
Indria's every step was a visible struggle with an extremely heavy limp and violent shaking, and she was beginning to feel the pain to match. She was soaked with the disgusting, oily pollutants of the muk's body, leaving her saturated with a deathly grey color in the aftermath of the rosy light. She knew she wouldn't be able to put out an attack strong enough to do anything to the enemy now, but she was also pretty sure her little spinarak friend wasn't going to be coming in with the clutch hyper beam. She had to figure out some way to get out of this or pray for divine intervention... or Kala. Unwilling to wait for either of the latter two, and now panicked beyond any ability to deny the danger, an idea manifested. As soon as she was even close to able, she spun on her heel and whipped her tail violently behind her; the muk flinched and put its arms up in front of it in expectance of an attack, but it didn't come. Indria's body spun at a slight angle, thrown upward just a bit so as to send razor-sharp leaves not at the foe, but at the branch of a tree above. It was thin enough to cut where it connected to the tree, but it looked pretty heavy at the same time. This was all she could think to do, and she felt hopeful as she heard the telltale cracking of wood and saw the branch began to tip, even while she was thrown to the ground by the momentum of her own movements.
Her ears flattened and heart sank when it stopped, nearly completely severed but still hanging by a thread. The muk gazed up at the hanging tree branch momentarily before settling its glare back on its victim. "Gheheheh," it let out an ominous and guttural laugh, crawling across the ground toward her as she struggled to pull herself up and stumbled away. She would just have to try again, and fast! This cocky freak thought her attacks were funny now, but would soon regret its overconfidence!! Her tail swayed to the left as she prepared to whip it in the opposite direction and strike the branch once again, but she was interrupted by a pulse of dark energy crashing into her, slamming her against the trunk of the tree the spinarak happened to be on. A strained cry sounded through her clamped teeth and she collapsed helplessly to the ground. Every fiber of her being cried for her to just stay down, but she pulled herself up again with the support of the tree, forcing her weary eyes open and locking them onto the muk. Unlike its weaker counterparts, this thing was capable of ranged attacks, and it was strong to boot. This made things harder, but the plan was still the same: tear that branch down on it, and if she couldn't pull it off this time, she would just have to try again. She pushed away from the tree and stumbled drunkenly forward in preparation to lash out at the branch once more, knowing she would have to make herself vulnerable and probably take another hit in the process.
Then the branch snapped and came hurdling down right on top of the muk. Twigs and larger sticks snapped off the limb while globs of muk flesh splashed everywhere, including on Indria. A string of white silk trailed down gently through the air while Indria fell back against the tree behind her; she looked up at the spinarak still gripping the other end of the silk rope. This seemingly simpleminded forest-dweller had accurately observed her plan and worked with her to see it through, throwing a line of its webbing up to the tree and pulling the dangling branch down. It had saved her extra pain and risk if nothing else, and for that, she was beginning to feel thankful for its presence. She let out a shaky sigh of relief and a weak "Thank you," sliding down against the tree now that the battle was over. She still wasn't sure if this spider could understand her, and she still didn't like bugs, but it had earned its place as more than just another creepy crawly. Now in the aftermath of this brief but intense struggle, Indria was finally beginning to truly register the pained cries of her torn muscles. She was too weak to muster the demeaning whines her body impulsively urged her to make, for which she was honestly thankful. It hurt, but it was better than the alternative. She was finally able to just take a breath, even if it was a painful one, and relax... and then she wasn't.
The lifeless puddle of scum began to reform under the tree branch, slowly pulling itself back together. The leafeon's eyes widened, but this briefly visible fear was quickly hidden by anger. "Oh come on," she somehow found the will to complain between heavy breaths, "What the Hell do I have to do to put you down!?" She would have liked to say more, but her throat burned. Talking was one of her favorite things to do, especially when it involved saying something negative or pessimistic. She wasn't used to having to silence herself on account of injuries. Maybe this wasn't the most pressing matter at the moment, but the realization of her inability to speak properly was an unpleasant one. Now she had to invent another way to deal with her attacker and she wouldn't be able to complain effectively in the aftermath! Maybe she should have been more worried about how in the world she was going to finish the muk off when it was still able to recover after all the punishment it had already taken, but she was nothing if not petty. Maybe now would be a good time to try running. She couldn't see herself winning this, and she didn't want to keep trying until she literally couldn't get up. Unwilling to abandon her guard, she searched for the hapless null while also trying to pick out the best escape route.
