Kino
Kino listened as Kala explained her interest in books. She found it strange that the null had not really been taught to read, if she was understanding her companion right. "Some books do that, because they're meant to," Kino said, referring to the books Kala described as full of impossibilities and falsities. "It's called fiction."
Kino looked around when asked about her interest in books, seeing if she could spot a book that looked to be fiction. She spotted a thin-looking one, which must be a children's book of sorts because what research books were that thin? "Here," the umbreon said, padding over to it. "I like fictional books, because they take you to many different universes. Figuratively." She pawed open the book, happy to find she was right about it being for kids. It would be strange if she'd told Kala that non-fiction books were the fiction ones.
KALA KORZINA | 153 | this is a kinda strange post just sayin
The normal type was intrigued as the dark type explained that the books were meant to tell lies. “Fiction” it was called. The umbreon picked out a book, one that did not have many pages. Kala’s head tilted, intrigued by the dark type’s actions as they opened the book. She stepped closer to the umbreon and the book and peered over the dark type’s shoulder. Her gaze stared down at the pages. The book held simple words accompanied by pictures. She found that these were words she could more easily understand. It was not that she was completely incapable of reading, just that she was not educated beyond the simple words.
The null had been confused by the umbreon’s word. “Figuratively”, what did that mean? She remained quiet, however, as she studied the pages. The pictures were finely crafted and soft on the eyes. Pastels stretched from page to page in order to convey the scene for whatever child had happened upon the book. It was obvious that whoever had created the book had put quite a bit of effort into making the images bright and colorful, though the vibrance had certainly faded over time with a collection of dust that obscured the painting.
“What does it read?” she asked the Umbreon, though she could read it for herself. She was curious to watch the umbreon read what she had said she liked. The Type:Null’s mind had been completely drawn away from any danger that could have been presented in this dungeon as well as the concern of their missing friend. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing would be something for time to tell. Kino,

Kino
At the type:null's question, Kino closed the book briefly to read the title on the cover. The words were faded and one part was unreadable, but the shiny umbreon could make out enough to get the gist of the book. "Well, the title reads "The Adventures of Harvey and ..." before it becomes unreadable," Kino began, flipping back to the page they'd been on. She was nearly too rough on the page, almost tearing it, but fortunately it didn't. Kino reminded herself to be gentle before beginning to read the book proper.
"Let's see... once upon a time, there was a pidgey named Harvey. He loved to go on adventures with his friend Becky the snubbull. One day they decided to go explore the mountain outside of their village." Kino paused to turn the page, but before continuing she turned to Kala and asked. "Want me to go on?" The umbreon wasn't sure if she had understood the null's question fully, but even if she had she didn't want to end up boring her companion.
