The Krokorok didn't have time to interject between the second Samantha said to follow her and the next second of actually taking off again. He supposed he didn't actually need to accompany the other Outlaw but what was his other option? Stay here until the pack of Tauros caught up and trampled him to death? Tauros may be herd Pokemon but they were far from cowardly and weak.
So Clyde turned to trail after the Charmeleon, following in the wake of split grass she left behind. It was, at this point, that he happened to be lost. The combination of being new to the area and getting turned around and around in battles did nothing to help his sense of direction. The fire-type seemed to know where she was going- Well, he could always just ask.
"Hey," Clyde spoke up. "Do you know where you're even going?" He questioned in a tone that made him sound more sure of himself.
Samantha could feel the ground rumbling, could see the pebbles in the grass shudder as the pounding of deadly hooves drew nearer. They were in a very dangerous situation and would be facing far more than one Tauros if they didn't get moving, now. Thus, she ducked her head and crawled at a far faster pace than she had started before, refusing to answer her current partner's question until she was certain the herd wouldn't hear and turn for them.
"Deeper." She answered simply, "I do know this place, I've never been this way, it's gotta be the way." She paused a moment, perking her head above the fronds of grass before altering her course slightly, "We're getting something out of this."
As the Charmeleon started to move faster, Clyde had to push himself as well. He wasn't as agile, his legs shorter and stiff tail meant more for balance than speed. He wasn't going to complain though, he could keep up with the fire-type and he was sure that she had the same idea of getting the hell out of the proximity of the herd.
It. Well, it seemed that Samantha had some semblance of a goal for the near future. Of course, judging by her previous actions, Clyde could easily assume that she was just on the hunt for another savage meal. It would do well to know what the Outlaw meant though, he wanted to avoid getting caught off-guard.
"What are you looking for?" He asked, turning slightly as the Charmeleon did.
Samantha peered back at the Krokorok, eyes searching as if she didn't believe a normal Pokemon would just ask a question like that. The length of the conversation was already dragging on for her, it felt unatural, it was irritating. Her tail flame spiked a moment, and she shook her head frantically, "To be honest? I'm not too sure."
She didn't recognize these grounds, nor did she know where Pokemon could attack from, but they were currently unmolested...she didn't take this as a good thing, it just meant they were probably being followed, and she noted to herself to keep a better eye out as she talked. "The explorers talk about dungeons like the treasure makes dying worth it...just want to see if it's true...they could just be lying, everyone does that."
The grasses were moving more frantically, and she started to look around eagerly, something was coming.
Clyde snorted, figuring that perhaps he had started to think to much of the Outlaw he was trailing after. Behind the conversation, the two of them both really didn't know what they were going after, simply driven by the off-chance that there might be something. Or just nothing. But before more words could be exchanged, the presence of danger loomed over them once again.
The Krokorok slowed down slightly, looking from left to right with his eyes narrowed. Something was wrong. The grass was moving erratically as Samantha had pointed out, but there was no sound of footsteps or beating of wings. Before he could contemplate it any further, the ground beneath Clyde exploded.
Diglett Level 11
There wasn't time to react as the Diglett burst upwards through the soil, nailing Clyde in the gut and sending the Krokorok stumbling backwards with grit teeth and arms wrapped around his midsection as he tried to recover from the shock of the attack.
Samantha expected a surprise attack, honor wasn't high on the priorities of a feral, they just wanted the thrill of the hunt. She expected a attack like this...on her, not her partner. "Hey!" She spat as the Diglett retreated back underground, leaving her claws empty as she pawed uselessly into the dirt.
The spray of dirt gave her a second to process where it was before it surfaced at her back legs, sending her careening forward, jostling her head so that colors sparked in her vision. She didn't make the same mistake twice, spitting embers at the momentary glimpse of the irritating ground type. The fire disintegrated in midair, buffeted by a Mud-Slap. Samantha ducked under the spray, and judging by the squeal from the hole, some of the flames managed to get through. Good.
