The chase begun for only one further second by both the Absol and from Tanis himself, during which time nothing had ultimately changed about the scenario: the canine led the charge, closely followed by Tanis who was trying to fire up his Quick Attack again. At that particular moment, he had succeeded in getting his body tensed up, but he had yet to begin the second stage of it. With his body in full motion, the process of going through the three stages he had to go through to utilize it took a shockingly lot longer than he had the first time around. This was just a unique situation that he struggled to perform it in that particular condition. What also took the time was the fact he had spent quite a lot of the time he could've used doing it, trying to prevent the Absol from swiping at him with his scythe, which he ultimately failed at anyway. If he had known that he was going to fail so badly in the first place, he would've instead tried to avoid it as opposed to try to deflect it. At the rate that everything was panning out, he felt as though it would only take a couple more seconds before the Absol reached his destination. With that said though, actually following behind the creature did bring forth to light something that Tanis hadn't considered before: Weaknesses. He noticed it when he first laid eyes on him, namely the massive tuft of fur that was covering him chest, face and the other upper areas of himself. Yet, upon following behind him, he noticed that his lower half didn't quite have as heavy a mane as his upper half sported. It was still coated in a soft white fur, that much was obvious, but it didn't look as heavy or as dangerous as looking at him from the front was like. The chase ended abruptly, but not by cause of anything the Absol or by anything that Tanis did primarily. More precisely, it was the action that Meadow performed that stopped them both in their tracks. The canine was the first to react to her attack, by swiftly darting to his left, just out of reach of the direction of the initial force of her assault. This did three things as far as Tanis was concerned: The Absol was intent on avoiding everything, he was going to be more trouble than he was worth, and Meadow's attack was headed straight for him now! This immediately forced Tanis to skid to an immediate halt, tossing up even more grass blades and soil as he did so. The noise was instantaneous, but it begun as nothing but a loud scream that grew in intensity as the initial pink and visible pink burst made its way towards him. Tanis' eyes grew wide as he noticed just how large the burst of the attack was, the Absol likely avoided it as easily as he did because the actual burst grew wider and with a lesser opportunity to avoid the attack the further out the target was. Considering he was further away from Meadow when she used it, this naturally meant he was going to have a tougher time getting out of the way. By the time he came to that realization, he knew for a fact that his natural speed wasn't going to be enough to get out of the way, and do what he wanted to do at the same time. He had been on all fours from the outset, and he'd been tensed up in an attempt to ignite his Quick Attack and close the distance rapidly. That was no longer as much of an appealing prospect as it was getting out of the way. Now that he literally had a timed window of opportunity to actually do just that, he had to work fast. With Lucifer just slightly to his left, and Meadow directly in front of him, unleashing an attack that, while he wasn't sure what it even was, he knew he didn't want to be in the middle of that so willingly. With that fresh in his mind, he sharply turned to his own left, and assumed a strange looking position, very different from when he used Quick Attack the previous time. His right arm was still outstretched, but this time it was planted on the ground directly in front of himself as far as he could reach. The majority of his weight was on that limb, as his legs and left arm were seemingly stuck together underneath his body. His body was reacting to him placing all his weight on that single arm, his tails up in the air and his head down low. He knew he had only a small window to get out of the way, lest he take the full brunt of the attack, and that screaming... At that point, it had reached a high-pitch and was getting ear-splittingly painful! What Meadow, and likely the Absol, could see from Tanis' positioning, is that he looked like he had given up on actually trying to catch the dark type. The angle he was looking to be taking, while heading left, was not in the same angle as the Absol was, he had turned much too far to do that. This hadn't deterred him at all, as his tensed body gave way to the situation that he had wanted all along: His Quick Attack! He felt his body growing faster, nimbler and more willing to do what he wanted to do, which was to go faster than he could normally go. Exactly like last time, everything around him seemed to slow to an absolute crawl while he remained unchanged. The Disarming Voice, that was getting tantalizingly close to him by this point, was still slowly making its way towards him, the screaming replaced with something much akin to a low growl by now. That sounded much better, but Tanis knew he couldn't maintain something like this for very long. Quick Attack was an offensive tool, not meant to be used to make his life so much easier. There were so many instances where he knew that if he could maintain something like this for an indefinite period, he'd have zero problems in any battle. But the simple fact was that he couldn't, so he just had to put up with it. For this particular Quick Attack, his intent was not to strike like he had last time. Instead he originally wanted to use it to close the distance again, and do something a little differently, it had since expanded to avoiding an incoming attack, but that's another detail. Since his intent was not for attacking, any power that he would have reserved to striking the Absol with his attack was instead transferred to his own speed, turning the situation from an offensive move, to a speed-based move. As he begun running in the direction he was facing, he spared a quick glance at the situation that the Absol and Meadow were in. As he initially thought when he heard the attack, Meadow seemed to be using her voice somehow to conjure up the attack that was headed his way, there was definitely some oomph in it, and her usual happy demeanour seemed to have been replaced with a miffed rage that he didn't recall seeing before. The Absol meanwhile seemed to be taking a backseat to the situation, content to just stand there suffering from the noise that she was producing, and not actually attacking her back. It was the perfect situation for him to do it, but he didn't. This did garner Tanis' attention that he took notice to. But it didn't change what he was going to do. Back in the proper time frame for everyone else, Tanis also somehow managed to avoid the pink aura of Meadow's onslaught by using his Quick Attack to get out of its way. The difference between this one, from the last one, is that last time, it was possible to see the path that he was taking to reach Absol before he got there and reappeared. This one was the precise opposite. Proving that he sacrificed any form of actual attacking utilized in the move for more raw speed, Tanis actually re-emerged with the Absol before the path that he took actually begun to show on the grass. According to what the grass blades and movement pattern showed, was that he bolted out of the Disarming Voice's range by taking a hard left, then, once he got out of its range, he took a sharp right turn while on the run before making a beeline for his true target: The Absol. The trail ended approximately two feet away from the canine's actual position, where it seemed as though Tanis was heading towards the dark type's right side of his body. From where he ended up, that was exactly what happened. Intentionally, Tanis had leapt at that point, and upon his reappearance back into real-time, he had purposely collided into the Absol's body, not so much as an attack, but for a more sinister and arguably more superior reason than unleashing an attack. At least Tanis thought it was a good idea. His idea, was to literally become a second body for the Absol. Smashing his body against the other, he quickly scrambled to try and gain some purchase against the fur that comprised of his main body. He was attempting to use the momentary diversion and confusion of the situation of literally being a real pest in his side, to become a real pest in his otherwise exposed side. This comprised of doing two things: Ensuring he was on his stomach in relation to Absol's frame, and pincering his arms and legs as far-stretched as he could muster, sticking his paws up against the fur and the skin as well. So far, the Absol had done an excellent job of avoiding attacks and generally getting out of the way of situations that would have compromised him in one way or another. While this is indeed another way of doing just that, the logic that Tanis thought of was simply this: Could he avoid things that were a couple of inches away from him? Plus, now he had properly closed the gap quite literally. Tanis was confident that he could hold onto the Absol's body whatever sort of resistance he put up otherwise. He could climb trees, walls, rocks, glass. You name it, he could likely climb it, all thanks to his paw make-up. The dark type didn't have any sort of real hand-holds or anything that could be gripped onto, except for his fur, which was certainly an option. However, Tanis was instead using his innate ability, and tried to grip straight onto the skin with as flat a paw as he could against it. If Meadow thought using Disarming Voice was embarrassing and awkward, than trying to do this was certainly going to be a close second place if not topping it entirely. The literal definition of stranger danger! But this was only the beginning of his so-called master plan. Tanis reached the conclusion that he had to get onto this side of the Absol, since it did seem as though his fur was thinner than the chest fur that he sported. He felt that he could potentially do more from here than he could trying to attack head-on, which was yet another reason why he did what he did. It's wild and closer akin to a ditch effort more than it is actually logical. But Tanis felt vindicated that this was the correct course of action for a Pokémon like him. He has done this sort of thing before, with mixed results. He just hoped this didn't wind up being his downfall. While turning into the worst grime of mud that the Absol has likely ever had in his life, there was one thing that was in his favour throughout all of this: Meadow. She was still, as far as he knew since he couldn't see her, where she was after having somehow missed with her attack. He would use the word 'miss' loosely, as while damage was prevented, the ringing in his ears was more than enough to prevent him from hearing much of anything. Not to mention the headache he was sporting left him a serious state that he could really only think of a couple of things at once. The last thing he wanted was for her to be deterred by the fact that she missed. He wanted her to keep doing it. Attacking was the best way she had to stopping the Absol from coming after her. He didn't stop the attack, nor did he actually go after her despite her missing, this was a sign that he was playing passive: Conserving his energy and attempting to wait for the other two to wear themselves out first before finishing the job. A common trick with a simple answer, keep applying pressure! Make the Absol act and force him to make choices that forced him to expend the energy he doesn't want to use otherwise. He wasn't going to get a free meal if his meal is fighting back. Tanis knew that, and he continued to urge the Pichu into going again, and again, and again! Unfortunately, the whistling in his ear did stop him from hearing anything, so not only was he yelling, he was essentially commanding, trying to make her do it without thinking too much about it. " Again!" Was the initial word. He was unsure if she'd even use such a move again with him now in the direct line of fire, but he knew he was, and he wanted her to do it anyway. If it meant making things tough for this guy, he was willing to pay that price. " Hit us both! Do it NOW!" He exclaimed the final word in his sentence. The less she thought about it, the more likely she'd do it, so he wanted her to act rather than think. Whether his words were heard or paid attention to, he didn't know. But he did know one thing, the Absol heard him. (- Note: This portion only applies if Tanis successfully clung onto Lucifer, ignore this if he doesn't -) He was fine with that however. He wanted the Absol to know that he was going to be placed within a lot of pressure, especially with what Tanis had lined up for him. A few things did come to his mind as he was considering what he could do. The most appealing being continuously pounding him in the same spot of his over and over again. Has resilient as he may have been, striking the same segment would eventually start to hurt even to the sturdiest of Pokémon. But, the decision that he went with was actually spurred on with what he 'requested' Meadow to do. He was going to be in the firing line, and the Absol likely realized that too. So what he wanted to do was generate a serious problem to the dark type that he had to find his way around, lest he wind up in serious trouble. To do that, Tanis wanted to make sure he would stick to his body for as long as he could. Peeling him off was going to be quite tough. Tanis' paws didn't slip very easily, and considering he was literally vicing his body like a clamp, he couldn't be made to go the other direction, because that's where the Absol's body was. So this left the dark type with two options as far as Tanis was concerned: Either he tried to peel him off anyway, or force him off using some sort of manoeuvre. That would have to make Tanis decide, or force him, to let go of him willingly. With Tanis already pinning his claim to staying firmly on his side, that would need to be a good pitch to convince him. With what he hoped was Meadow's attack coming from herself, Tanis also wanted to generate another problem for the Absol to deal with. His ultimate decision was actually quite simple, and it came in the form of a small seed that he generated in his left paw. The small seed, filled with a peculiar substance with its own personal intent, took a little longer to actively form up since his left paw was 'glued' to the Absol and not cupped like he would normally have it. But on the flipside, the seed was literally right there against his body, ready to spring into action. Tanis' intent was obvious the moment he tried to set his plan into motion. He was going to Absorb the Absol's own stamina and energy and intake it into himself for his own use! In the manner that he was using it, he could continuously keep the drain going at the cost of not being able to use any other move otherwise. This was fine by him though. Draining his opponent while staying clung onto him was precisely what he wanted to do, and he was committed. And this was the predicament he envisioned the Absol being in. He may be fast and nimble enough to avoid attacks, but Tanis wanted to pressure him into a tough choice that he had to make. Not only did he hope he had to avoid a second assault from Meadow herself, which he would need to actively avoid on purpose, but he also had a potentially energy-draining Treecko that was stuck to him like flypaper. To get him off, he had to make some sort of consorted effort to do so, but doing that could mean he wouldn't have the time to avoid Meadow's attack. In Tanis' mind, this was a lose-lose situation as far as he was concerned, and he was forced to choose either taking Meadow's attack and forcing Tanis off him, or avoid Meadow's attack, and leave him to drain his energy away partially uncontested. There were likely other options, of course, that could maybe mitigate both. But if his own calculations were right, the Absol would most certainly have to do something about it besides waiting it out. Because if he did continue to wait it out, Tanis was going to drain everything he had left out of him! Which he was also perfectly fine with. This wasn't the end of Tanis' ideas, but this one was the most appealing! +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ There's a lot of if's and but's going on in this one, but I wanted to put it all down so a clearer picture could be made as to what Tanis was up to. Lucifer, I'm going to send you another PM to your Rune account. I want to pitch an idea to you. Until then, Tanis transforms into a Klingon. :v

The Absol’s reaction made the corners of the Pichu’s mouth rise just a tad. She was on the right track! The Absol didn’t just stand there to take the hit, because he had to dodge it! His fur wouldn’t be able to protect him effectively from any of her special attacks (not that she really had any). The tables had clearly turned on her favor, to the point where the Absol’s ears had to recover before he could attack her. Or… was this his strategy? Whatever the case, Meadow was taking easy breaths, and felt as though she had time to recover from her initial attack.
It was only then that it dawned on her that in her rage, she may have accidentally hit Tanis. Oh no! She was aware that the move was able to hit a couple Pokemon at a time, but it never occurred to her that she could have been aiming an attack at someone she was trying to defend. The Pichu, foolishly, glanced around to see if Tanis was alright, desperately looking left and right. Oh, how she prayed that Tanis didn’t hold it against her. She didn’t think he would considering her circumstance, but he was injured enough as it was. Heaven forbid if she were the cause of more injuries.
Whoops. Spoke too soon. It seemed as though this was part of Tanis’s strategy now! The Treecko was attempting to leap onto the Absol’s side, and told Meadow to use the same attack on the both of them. What?! No, she couldn’t do that. She didn’t want to hurt Tanis, not after everything he was willing to do for her. But… but at the same time, the Treecko said it with so much conviction that… That maybe…
Oh, but how was she going to gather up the courage to unleash the attack now? No doubt the Absol would try a rather sneaky tactic to somehow get Tanis hurt, especially with all the time Meadow was wasting just thinking about it. Think Meadow, think! There had to be something she hadn’t tried yet. There had to be… another option!
That’s it! Meadow thought as she stood on her three unharmed limbs. The Pichu had a hard time running like this, but this was an emergency! (Well, it had been the whole time really…) On all threes, whilst the Absol was distracted, Meadow rushed directly at the Absol, much to her own surprise, and launched herself upward just enough to try and grab the fur on the Absol’s face. Then, if successful, the Pichu would place a kiss on the canine’s cheek, in a much sweeter manner than she really wanted to. But, after all, this wasn’t just any kiss. This was her Sweet Kiss attack! This was what she should have done all along. She needed to confuse the Absol before attacking!
Regardless on whether the attack worked or not, now it was Meadow who was in close range, and this time he was really in for it. “Tanis!” Meadow said, loud enough but with a tad bit of a shaky voice. “I’m gonna attack now! Get ready!” And if all of that was successful, the Pichu would grab the Absol’s ear and let out a massive Disarming Voice directly into said ear. Yes, it was a rather morbid tactic, especially for what Meadow was used to, but it was a better alternative than having to harm her friend.
Whether or not this all went according to plan depended on whether or not the Absol was distracted enough or not.
Meadow used Sweet Kiss!
Meadow also used Disarming Voice!
--- Yeah, Meadow didn’t follow Tanis’s directions. Upon realizing that her attack could have harmed him, I just couldn’t see Meadow reasonably agreeing with that situation. The circumstance I went with was definitely a bit of a stretch, but much like Tanis’s actions, it all depends on Lucifer’s actions. Hopefully this was a good enough alternative for her to pick, since I feel that this is much more within her character to do.

Lucifer's ears took a while to recover from the Disarming Voice, so he was completely caught unawares by the Treecko's attack. To make matters worse, his new "growth" began leeching energy like an overgrown bug Pokemon. Enraged by this cowardly move, the Absol channeled his ire into his hind leg and proceeded to Scratch the annoying gecko off. This version of Scratch was slightly different as the claws on Lucifer's back paw glowed white, as opposed to normally using his front paw. This Scratch also targeted the Treecko multiple times in an attempt to remove the energy-draining Pokemon, much like Fury Swipes.
In addition to this, the Pichu saw fit to try a close-quarters attack as well. Mercifully, the Sweet Kiss didn't do much due to the Dark type's movements in dislodging the Treecko resulting in the mouse kissing his fur instead. The Disarming Voice still packed a punch. Lucifer snarled as the pinkish sound wave assaulted his sensitive eardrum. He was not letting the Pichu get away with that, though. The Absol used Future Sight to predict a psychic blast of energy that would hopefully throw his opponents away from him.

All of a sudden, the once constructive and mild battle, if a fight for survival could be considered mild, turned into a wild free for all where all three Pokémon seemed more intent in trying to outdo the other by literally throwing attacks around every which way they could towards their respective targets. With three Pokémon involved in the skirmish, there was no doubt going to be one Pokémon that was going to be drawing the short straw in that arrangement. As it turned out, that Pokémon turned out to be the Absol, whom not only had an 'overgrown bug Pokémon' latched onto his side like the worse-colored boil he's ever had in his life, but he also had a lovely Pichu-based hair braid swinging on the tuft of hair dangling off the side of his face. If it wasn't for the fact those very two Pokémon had every intent in bringing the dark type down to more their level, he could very well have considered them as excellent adornments for some sort of posh party. Really just needing a tie to complete the look! If the forest actually had some sort of Pokémon that completed the greenery make-up of this place, a lot could be bought into question as to just what was actually happening. Perhaps nothing short of two 'children' who were playing some sort of game to make the Absol fall down or something. They weren't quite succeeding in that regard, but what they did succeed on was performing exactly what they set out to do. Having realized that the dark type was presumably doing everything in his power to ensure he took the least amount of damage as possible, both felt fit enough to actually close the distance entirely, to actually touching him, and striking from there. Tanis was the initial responder to performing the act, Meadow followed suit a couple of seconds later. This would wind up being just as much a bad thing as it would turn out a bad thing, but only time described that scene in its entirety. Both Pokémon had their own methods, and own reasons, for doing what they were doing. For Tanis, his task was very straightforward. He used his Quick Attack to close up the entirety of the distance that the Absol placed on him, forgoing any attempt of attacking him as a result of it, and just rammed into him instead. The intent was never to damage with the ramming, so Tanis wasn't bothered at all that his efforts from doing that didn't result in anything tangible or long-lasting. But the purpose he did seek was to disorientate and distract for just a single second while he took the opportunity to wrap all of his limbs around the Absol, and literally glue himself to his body. As far as that was concerned, he accomplished that end goal perfectly. With his left arm and left leg fixed to the Absol's back, and his right arm and leg doing the same, but on the Absol's underside to the creature's right. He was facing the same direction that his newly found surface was, and everywhere he turned, Tanis followed. This, in short, meant that his right side was facing the floor. That was not the sort of position anyone really wanted to be in, unless they were confident they were going to be unmoving from that position. That's where Tanis' confidence lay. While unusual, this position was not foreign for him when climbing surfaces, heck, he's even been upside down before. He felt emboldened and confident that he wasn't going anywhere without at least some dedicated force to peel him off. His move of choice now that he was in that position, Absorb, was chosen for quite a few reasons. Primarily, he knew the position he was in was going to make things so much easier for the Absol to get him right back, he was going to get hit at some point. With Absorb as a draining attack that literally stole his target's very energy and intook the substance for his own. The other core reason was because it required very little movement on his part to actually use. Since he was trying to ensure he didn't move away from the Absol again, he didn't want to try using something physical that required one of his paws to utilize, and risk being knocked off. Absorb allowed him to plant the absorption seed directly onto the dark type and begin draining away at him while keeping all four paws firmly in their place. The seed itself, which entered through his back via Tanis' left paw, had already begun its work in draining the Absol of his energy. It would be a slower process than other similar attacks like it, but the longer it manifested, the more he was draining, the worse off the Absol was going to be in the long-haul. At this point, any advantage was a good advantage. The gash that had formed on his right shoulder as a result of him failing to strong-arm against the clash had already begun to seal up and mend itself as a direct result of him draining the energy away. As each second passed, he felt his expended strength returning, and his depleted stamina restoring and brimming him with newfound life. Himself fuelled at the mere singular cost of the Absol getting weaker! A fair trade off, he agreed with himself. As Tanis predicted however, this had come with a cost, and for the Absol, he was in an ideal position for a counterattack of his very own, and he didn't waste any time in doing it. Tanis could feel him shifting his position, but not in a manner that he considered to attempting to shake him off, it was definitely a shift, but it felt too minor for him to be concerned any more about it, so he didn't change any aspect of his own position in response, merely continued to drain away a little more as his own 'cost' for wasting time doing that. He didn't actually realize the true intent of the logic behind the Absol's action until it was much too late to do anything about it. The initial touch of the back paw that touched him immediately made Tanis flinch and grunt, caught completely unawares, a move he should've seen coming but never did. With a single brush motion, the Absol raked his claw into Tanis' back cleanly, from the bottom portion of the left side of his back, to the right side of his back approximately midway down. The entire time, his claws touched flesh and tore it open like a knife through butter. The end result, not only leaving another wound on Tanis, but also granted a satisfying sound of grunting and pain through gritted teeth for its entire duration, followed by wincing and deep breaths in the aftermath. At least it would be music to the Absol's ears at least. In spite of that Scratch attempt, Tanis tried his best to ignore it as best he could and continued draining him some more to offset the damage. As it would turn out however, he was far from done. As cheaply as Tanis himself was being when it concerned this entire situation they were both in, the Absol did it again, this time starting and ending in slightly different areas on his back, but reaching the same result. The second time still didn't shift him from his spot, and the draining continued thereafter. The third Scratch, again reaching the same damaging result as the other two, this time showed some success in dislodging his first accessory. The force of the tensed strain dislodged Tanis' left leg from his perch and his body was forced to lurch towards the Absol's front. He was forced to twist enough that his other leg quickly followed suit and left him in a bit of a bind. In spite of his feet having lost their grip, his front paws held firmly in place and did nothing more than scrape slightly against the Absol's surface, towards his front side like the rest of his body was. The impact was strong, and while he was forced to change his position completely, Tanis held strong and remained on his body. But that didn't mean that the scratches were all in vain. The damaging impact on them were obvious, especially on Tanis' face. That hurt, and the Absol likely knew that too. However, he was not to be denied the prospect of inflicting some damage to this... Thing... While he still had the chance. Instead of having excellent purchase and an unshiftable stance again the body, he had been flipped over, so now his back is to the Absol's body, and his stomach was exposed this time. This also meant that the way he stuck to the white-furred surface had to change from literally hugging him, to the typical stance he has in this position when he's climbing something and turns around to survey. Namely, his two front paws are arced against his own back, and planted much closer together than as far away as he could hug. His back paws did the same thing, but were outstretched in front of him. Yet again, all four of his paws were solidly gripped against the Absol's fur and skin, and he had zero plans on letting him go in spite the fact he had succeeded in partially moving him. Now Tanis was literally a hair away from touching Absol's heavy front fur with his feet. During the entire time that he flipped over to his back and repositioned himself into gluing back onto the Absol, his Absorb had stopped, though he kept the seed pressed between his left paw and the dark type's back, which he could feel if he was curious where it was. Now that he was re-situated however, Tanis was more than inclined to start it up again, which he performed with zero difficulty. His positioning was curious to say the very least, but it hadn't stopped him from doing precisely what he was doing before those Scratches happened, he's just doing it in a different, and more open, angle than he'd prefer. The Absorb itself had a great visual representation that was a clear indication that he was both using it, and at extremely close range. Typically a long-range move, using it within touching distance allowed Tanis to continue applying the pressure by continuously fuelling the Absorb seed to go longer, reapplying its effects every few seconds to keep the drain going. The bubbles of energy that escaped from within the Absol's body fused into his left arm, which caused it to glow a bright green. The bright green effect showed a flow kind of similar to an electric shockwave, but green in color and generated up his arm as opposed to outwards. Despite its flare, Tanis didn't resist the overall effect from overflowing his body. He's been scratched up quite badly, so he needed the opportunity to recharge. He didn't try to do anything else or use any other move in conjunction with it. His intent was still staying latched onto the Absol for as long as he physically could, so anything that would move him more than he had to was ignored in favour of staying perched. Absorb was a great damaging tool by its own right, but it made for excellent utility as well. Slowly, it begun to undo the damage that was placed upon him on his back. The spotlight away from him, Meadow was finding similar success with her own attempts at damaging the Absol. Tanis couldn't really quite tell what she was trying to do initially, as it kind of looked like she buried her face in the thick white fur. It looked intentional, but she was trying to hold onto that overgrowth of fur that was protruding from the top of his head and was dangling down the side of his face. That was quite the precarious position. But even he knew that his own situation when it came to hanging onto stuff is very much different to Meadow's, and even the Absol's thinking about it. For those two, they had to rely on hand-grips and whatever they could dig their paws and claws into. If they lacked either, they were going to really struggle doing much of anything concerning climbing or, in this case, grabbing a hostile Pokémon. Meadow was light and small enough that hanging onto that tuft of fur was viable, but he wasn't completely sure that was the best place. In comparison, his own physiology allowed him to do precisely what he's doing right now: Lay his paws flat onto the Absol's skin, and 'cling' that way. He needed no fur, or any sort of handholds to do that. His paw make-up would handle the dislodging woes that the dark type has struggled to get Tanis to do to becoming a complex task. Nonetheless, there was actually a reason behind why Meadow clung onto where she went to. Despite Tanis'... Request... For Meadow to attack them both, the prospect didn't appeal to her, and instead she got up that close, merely for the simple fact of blasting a second Disarming Voice into the Absol's closest ear directly. Tanis' left eye shut immediately and his right eye squinted and struggled to stay open as she begun her assault. He unfortunately lacked the luxury to cover up his ears since his paws were occupied both with staying in place, and using his Absorb. If he thought his hearing was recovering at that junction, then it wasn't going to now for at least quite a few seconds. Fortunately, like last time, he wasn't in the damaging portion of the blast, that was left to the Absol to contend with, which by the looks of it, he wasn't taking it well at all. Though what the both of them were both suffering with was their hearing loss. His ears constantly whistled as her screaming bought the Absol into a continuously tougher situation that grew worse by the second for him. For Tanis though, to see the Absol suffering like that, he would've paid a higher price than losing his hearing for a while. The action didn't stop there however. His scratching drawn to a close and continuous pressure coming from his accessories, the Absol still managed to keep himself in a relatively enough calm state to do... Something. In his new-found position, he could see that the Absol was doing a thing that looked like it required concentration. Definitely spending a little time in that posture and position no doubt trying to unleash something he felt was going to potentially dislodge the both of them from their perches. He didn't stop his Absorb pressure in lieu of any of this. Tanis did consider maybe trying something to break the Absol's concentration, maybe kicking him in the back of the head? He wasn't too sure he could quite reach from where he was, and while hitting him elsewhere could maybe work, he didn't think he had a good enough guarantee that it would work to attempt trying it. So reluctantly, he continued to do precisely what he continued to do, which was his Absorb, and just tried to make the situation better for himself and more worse off for the Absol. In spite of the concentration that he surprisingly concocted, it didn't actually seem to have any sort of profound effect as far as Tanis could tell. He was positive that he was gearing up for something, something he couldn't see. He couldn't hear anything anyway, so he didn't know if it was something audible that happened, but whatever it was, it ultimately led to absolutely nothing. The situation hadn't changed in either direction for all three of them, and it didn't disrupt anything that Tanis was doing. He didn't really have any words for what exactly just happened, if anything actually happened at all... Did anything happen? Tanis watched the whole thing, and saw nothing. Yet afterwards, the Absol simply stopped his concentration and went back to the immediate task at hand, trying to dislodge the pair off himself. He wasn't sure. Slightly confused, he shot Meadow a quick glance in her general direction, being able to see her too, a confused look on his face. Well, whatever it was, it's changed nothing, so he didn't concern himself any more about it. Turning back to the Absol, his pressure continued to otherwise wreck havoc on Absol's back, now having spent two full attack rotations, minus a reposition break, continuously depleting the reserves that the dark type had in terms of stamina and overall energy. At the same time, re-using that draining to his own use. While the scratches on his back are still very much there, as is the gash on his shoulder, they were all very slowly beginning to reform and close up. It would easily take at least a full couple of minutes of continuous draining to fully heal up his body from the damage that it took, alongside restoring himself back up to his maximum state. That all depended on whether the Absol actually had that much to spare for that long, and whether he could actually keep it going for that long. The overall drain so far has already been a good length of time, and while he couldn't guesstimate just how much he'd stolen from the Absol, he was confident enough that he'd definitely got a decent-sized portion of it as far as what his body had reclaimed for his own. He was pleased with the results he acquired so far, and he felt vindicated to keep on going. The Absol had failed to get him off this time around, but he had succeeded in at least making him reposition. Tanis conceded that it's a partial success for the dark type, but he still felt like he held the advantage otherwise. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- The pain train keeps a-rollin'! Meadow had screamed into the Absol’s ear again until her lungs got tired, in which she was forced to take a breath. Instead, the Pichu brought her attention to climbing up the canine’s bangs until she ended up kicking her right leg over the side of his neck to sort of straddle it. This caused the Pichu to let out a bit of a whine in pain that was rather common among electric rodent Pokemon. Shaking her mind off the pain, the Pichu climbed up onto the head of her enemy until she was able to lean over the canine’s forehead, and glare directly in his eyes.
That Pressure ability was intense, but this Pichu was not about to let it overwhelm her now! Instead, Meadow placed both paws firmly on both sides of his forehead, and aimed to give him a Sweet Kiss directly on the forehead, aiming directly for the side that wasn’t covered in fur.
Regardless of whether or not this was successful, it forced the Pichu to have to back up and grab onto the scythe that was on the canine’s head. A chill ran up her spine as she saw fresh blood on the weapon, that most likely being Tanis’s. Speaking of which, Meadow found herself flinching when she heard grunting sounds from her friend. She dared to peer over to see the Absol continuously scratching at his other foe with his hind legs. The Pichu puffed her cheeks and glared at the action being done to her friend.
The Pichu’s cheeks began sparking again, but she refrained from letting out another ThunderShock. It was more than just keeping herself from getting dazed, because if Tanis hadn’t been holding onto the Absol, too, she would have given her the biggest ThunderShock she could. That would keep Tanis’s ears from ringing, that’s for sure.
But there was something… strange in the air. Something was coming. She and Tanis both felt it. Meadow wasn’t sure what it was, and though she suspected it was bad, she decided it wasn’t urgent enough to keep her attention on whatever was happening. The Pichu was now considering what it was she should have done at that moment. Did she really want to use another Disarming Voice? She didn’t want to make her friend deaf, and though she considered it, she didn’t want the Absol to go deaf either. That just felt like too cruel of a punishment.
But she didn’t have any other damage dealing moves! And it could have been that Sweet Kiss didn’t work anyway, so might as well. The Pichu took another deep breath as she once again leaned over the Absol’s face while keeping a grip on his scythe. Then, she let it out, aiming directly into his face with yet another Disarming Voice. She would be relentless this time, she was certain!
Meadow used Sweet Kiss!
Meadow also used Disarming Voice! --- Sorry if this post is sloppy. It's after midnight, so I'm a tad sleepy.

Lucifer was rather irritated at the Treecko's persistence. Still, he did succeed in making the gecko change position. That also stopped the leeching, letting the Absol steel himself for the Future Sight he knew was coming. Even the Pichu's failed attempt at another Sweet Kiss and subsequent Disarming Voice couldn't shake Lucifer's resolve. As the Treecko continued to drain energy, he looked skywards as a blast of bluish-purple psychic energy streaked down towards them.
Despite the continuous energy drain, the Dark type leaped into the air to meet the psychic energy blast. Lucifer twisted his body in an attempt to get the two Pokemon clinging to him to take the brunt of the attack. He then landed in a heap on the grass. Hopefully, the Future Sight managed to knock the Treecko and Pichu off. The Absol hadn't wanted to fight from the beginning and he certainly didn't want to fight now.

At the rate things had been panning out for the Absol, it had literally reached a sort of stalemate that he did seem to be struggling to find an efficient way out of. That's not to say it was through lack of trying, on the contrary, the answer that he attempted on Tanis himself did have a positive result that did garner an outlook that stated that it affected him. Even if he didn't ultimately detach his hold from his body properly, he still got in some solid hits that his accessory didn't ultimately contest any more than he'd already planned to perform. Of course, that very plan didn't exactly end with the Absol getting out of it scot free, as the Absorb proved, and continued to prove even after he'd finished trying to scratch the Treecko off himself, and put his focus to his Future Sight. His plan to get him off did end in failure, which led to the situation that had befallen him. Not only had he failed in removing Tanis from his body, but Meadow was still hanging off him in prime range for another attack of her own. From Tanis' point of view, he had no problems with the situation having remained unchanged in that regard. But that still did not stop him from seeing the Absol seems to focus on something that he clearly couldn't comprehend or realize just what the logic behind it was. If Tanis was any smarter and more cautious about things, he likely would've considered that whatever it was he was doing would likely be a different attempt at trying to forcefully remove both Pokémon from himself. But the simple fact was that nothing ultimately happened, which is what caused the initial confusion from Tanis. Maybe he was thinking of a way out of his predicament properly and was considering his options? That was certainly viable, and wouldn't put it past him, but he had yet to enact whatever the plan was, if that's what he was doing. So he didn't bother too much more about it, and simply continued his draining exactly as he's done so far. But, perhaps in a stroke of genius on Meadow's part, she actually changed what she was grabbing onto. Originally, it was the tuft of fur dangling to the side of the Absol's face. While that did look like a solid enough thing to be grasping onto, he was a little concerned that, at the end of the day, it was fur that didn't hold quite as much substance as many other things around here that she could have grabbed onto instead. Of course, the intent for her doing that in the first place was to be mere inches away from the Absol as she unleashed her devastating attack! For that purpose, it performed to expectations. Even Tanis could see though that it was a rather unusual position for her to be in, he had no doubt that she could climb, but the way she was holding onto him did look like it was not something she did for a living. Which did kind of make sense considering what she did actually do for a living, not exactly too much reason to climb onto things, except for maybe a stool. But while her form was far from graceful, she would still earn top marks for effort. However, she had since changed that position to arguably the more dangerous option of actually hanging onto his scythe. It was something that was much more sturdier, and less likely she'd wind up slipping from it than clinging onto fur. But the reason Tanis thought it was a stroke of genius was simply the fact that she was holding onto the base of that scythe. It meant the Absol couldn't use it to strike against her any easier than where she was originally. It's quite difficult to slice someone with a sword if they're holding onto its handle. Though the scene is different, the idea behind that thought is essentially the same. The mere fact that it was attached to the Absol's head made little difference in that regard. So whereas Tanis' position had been weakened somewhat in terms of hanging onto the Absol, Meadow had actually improved her stance. Credit goes where credit is due, that's a sound strategy. He only flashed a quick and approving grin in her direction before returning back to the situation at hand. Never forget some of the more basic cardinal rules when it comes to battles! Eyes on the prize! Both of his accessories have continued to make their claim that they were not going anywhere, and so it all depended on what the Absol would do as a direct result of the continuous question of the predicament that continued to plague him even now. Tanis was expecting him to potentially get much more aggressive in his stance to shake them both off after his initial attempts failed to net him the result he wanted. More scratched were certainly an real option, even with Tanis' position changed to further up his body. He himself was not really looking forward to what he would try, considering his position. If just a mere scratch could drag his legs out of that position and force him to change it to a less sturdier variant, then what was he going to try next? One fact he was somewhat confident that was true, the Absol was maybe going to struggle to do whatever it was, more-so than before he was being sapped of his strength that is. But what he didn't actually expect was the dark type to actually take flight, squatting down at first to assist him in acquiring the height he desired, he took to the skies, easily a double-figured vertical jump. Tanis reacted correspondingly as his body shook as a response to suddenly having altitude to suddenly contest with. His back pressed up against the Absol's as his body was forced backwards as he gained height. Not having his feet on the ground was not as uncommon to Tanis as most may consider, but it is unusual for him to not actually be gripped onto something that wasn't at least connected to the ground in some way or another. So height wasn't a problem for him, the shock of the realization of the other fact was a little startling. But it begged the question just why he even did it. Maybe to dislodge Meadow first? At the very least, that simple action along also wasn't enough to remove Tanis' grip, the Scratching was much more effective at that. The whole act seemed bizarre, until he actually finally decided to look in the same direction that the rest of his body was facing: Up at the sky. ... Well... That's different! What could only really be described as a distortion of the sky itself, a wave of some sort of purple mixture that seemed to vaguely mimic the one that Meadow used a little bit ago, except obviously a different color, protruded and transformed the otherwise bright blue tint of the sky into a murkier variant of its former self. It was exceptionally unnatural, which was the immediate tip-off that this was what the Absol had planned the whole time. How did he not realize it was like that in the first place, it was so obvious! The formations did not stop there however, multiple round shapes, a darker purple than the formation, begun to take shape which, at the same time, seemed to brighten the purple coloration of it, which could maybe be considered as it being drained of its power to grant that same power to the orbs. Yet the Absol seemed quite intent on having all three of them have a close-up view of what was happening, even so much as turning his body so his left-side was facing the ground, meaning Tanis' position was now literally on top, having been on his right-side the whole time. He had prime positioning, and he was obviously directly within its targeting. For the Absol, it's perfect! Except for the impacts that the Future Sight would place upon his body, the attack itself would ultimately do nothing. So for him to be the makeshift platform as the scene of the oncoming attack, he had nothing to lose and everything to gain! After all, if it winded up missing and struck him instead, what had it ultimately done to him? To Tanis, he still had absolutely no clear idea just what it even was, or what it was doing. But there was one thing he was sure of: He wasn't going to like it when it all rained down onto him. But there was one more thing that had to be placed into consideration. Meadow. He was confident that she had the insight and the vision to realize that it was there as well, if not by her noticing herself, than likely by him having looked up to see it, and spent the next few seconds having done so take its shape. What he didn't notice right away, was that the blast itself was actually hurtling towards them the entire time that he'd been looking at it. It took Tanis a few more seconds at that point to realize that it was coming, and fast! Though he wasn't willing to actually do any sort of calculations, he suspected he had a few seconds to do something about it. His initial thought was to swap his own position and flip over to the Absol's underside, more precisely the side closest to the ground, which was now currently his left side. That seemed quite appealing, and while it did mean clinging onto him upside down, he felt like he could do it. However, what would be the fate of Meadow if he actually did that. He'd be safe, but she didn't have the same climbing capacity as he did. If she were to avoid the Future Sight, she'd effectively have to do the same thing and reach the same conclusion he did. While he did think she could manoeuvre around the Absol, he knew she couldn't send herself upside down like that so effectively. He did feel confident that she could withstand the attack, as this was the first one he would see her take. But what sort of condition is she actually in? If the whining he heard was any indication, probably not in the best of shapes. At the end of the day, while Tanis is indeed the one who jumped into the battle, it's Meadow that this Absol wants. As far as his own part in this was concerned, he was just backup... Tanis had to make a split-second decision about what to do, otherwise if he took too long, then the decision would be made for him! He shot glances to three different places: The sky, then to Meadow, then to Absol himself, in that order. Only after that did he make his decision. It began with mercifully ending his Absorbing tricks against the dark type, as he released his front paws from the position they were in to shift them in allowing him to kneel. Even though he had done this, the actual Absorb itself didn't actually stop until about two seconds after he moved his paw. At that point, it was easy to see how the energy draining effect was working, as small green orbs were seeping out of the seed that he'd left pressed against the Absol's side. Those green orbs would then rocket towards Tanis' left arm, where the healing effect that he had been generously donated continued its influence for the remainder of the attack's duration. Afterwards however, the draining ceased, and all that remained was a stagnant seed left within the confines of the Absol's well-kept fur. Indicating no further signs that it was going to do anything besides lay there, lest gravity took it elsewhere. But it was a necessity for Tanis, as he made his decision about what he was going to do. He helped out another Pokémon who had the gracious opportunity to battle alongside him with a situation not quite as dissimilar as this one, though the danger involved was much more real in his eyes than it was back then. Nonetheless, now was the time to act, not second guess himself. Perhaps there was a superior way to doing this than what he concluded with, but considering what he really wanted to do didn't really give him the opportunity of time on his side, this was the next best thing. The simple conclusion was that it's Meadow that the Absol wants, not him. So the better her situation was, and the better her condition was, the better both of their chances were to make a difference. Plus that's not to mention that, aside from his continuous absorbing tricks, she had performed something that definitely disagreed with the Absol. That would be the key in all of this if this battle was to continue on. Meadow cannot fall! That was his decision, and that was what he acted on. Tanis performed but one major movement which involved swinging his own body over to where Meadow now dangled, where the Absol's scythe was. It was an easy enough process now that the Absol had graciously turned his own right-side into, essentially, a flat platform for the most part. But the next part was a little more complex that he wanted it to be, as he literally attempted to mimic Meadow's position, including the method that she was clinging onto the dark type by his scythe. He did have the fortune of having more prominent legs than she had, which did allow him to latch onto the top of the Absol's muzzle. If he wasn't enjoying Tanis stuck on his body, then that single action probably didn't make things any better. Nonetheless, that's exactly what he did, as he literally took the form of Meadow's second skin in a quite literal sense. Tanis' intent was to cover Meadow's entire body underneath him, even down to where she was holding on. The logic seemed pretty good on paper: If the attack was going to hit both of them anyway, he may as well cover her, so he'd take it and she will emerge relatively unscathed, albeit with Tanis' and maybe her own pride in complete tatters. In spite of that, Tanis was determined and felt that this was the correct choice. Meadow was the one that was making the difference, whether she believed it or not. This was her story, not his nor anyone else's. He's nothing more than the support role in this fight to the death, so it was instrumental that she could continue to write it while she still could. ... Just like he'd done in the past... The Absol's Future Sight allowed no time for backing out or the changing of either Pokémon's mind. In fact, Tanis literally only had the time to say two words to Meadow as a response to what he was already in the process of doing. " Get down!" Tanis looked up only enough to see the blast and the orbs heading his way. His last act in this scene, was pressing up against Meadow as tightly as he could. His stomach pushing up against her back, head, tail, all in his selfish attempt to block her from the incoming assault. As for the assault itself, it was nothing short of relentless. The force and blast of the Future Sight was easily the most intense attack that the Absol had unleashed upon them. The orbs immediately went to work in smashing into Tanis' back, tails, head, and his arms and legs as multiple strikes smacked his frame like a bunch of tennis balls hurled at him. It all happened all at once, and illicit a most satisfying sound that would've sung a nice song for the Absol if he could hear it through all the Disarming Voices he took. The blast swam through all three Pokémon as the formed orbs passed by them, except for one. One final smack across the side of Tanis' face bought a swift conclusion to the attack that the Absol saw coming long before the other two did. Tanis has no idea if he was even remotely successful in keeping Meadow away from the attack's influence, except for that last one that is. The final orb-like shape forced him off of Meadow and slammed against the Absol's face from the impact of that attack. The only paw that remained on Absol after that final impact was his right paw, which remained flat on the Absol's scythe, where Meadow had been hanging onto. The rest of him left dangling as every body part except for that right paw dangled without life and with no movement except for what the Absol's leap was doing to them. His eyes closed and his mouth open a little, Tanis' world became dark as the result of the attack, no longer knowing what was going on around him, no longer in the knowledge that he was airborne with only one paw actually stopping him from free-falling. Despite his otherwise unconscious state, his paw continued to retain its non-slip proficiency, which is actually quite interesting all things considered. Unfortunately that didn't last, as the Absol's descent forced Tanis' body to fall at a slightly different pace than the Absol himself. Being lighter and less denser with not as much fur weighing him down, he wound up eventually slipping off thanks to gravity pulling his handhold away from him. Bottom marks for everyone's landing though. The Absol landed in a crumbled and slightly amusing heap on the grass with a resounding thud, definitely not a cat! Tanis suffered a similar fate, though not by his own choice as he landed on his right side, which then proceeded to drag him further away from the scene of the crime until he was about fifteen to twenty feet away, finally skidding to a stop and flopping to his stomach. And for the next few seconds, that was where he remained, unmoving and unresponsive. His back, while still adorning the three scratch marks he took which looked like it was showing immediate signs of healing despite how soon it had been since he took them, were now also littered with numerous bumps and bruises from every single impact that the Future Sight coated him with. He wanted a battle, and that's precisely what he just got. Despite the grave situation, some signs of life still remained within Tanis. He was still breathing, ironically quite calmly all things considered, and the color of his body still retained its vibrant luster that didn't seem as though he had perished in any way. But there was one more factor that showed a most obvious sign of life. It didn't look like anything like it was going to happen at first, as if Tanis had reached his limit in endurance, despite having drained some of it back from the Absol himself. Yet what was happening was a feeling that Tanis has had the pleasure of having before, and while it did signify one painful truth, it was also a relishing one. A single spark was all it was at first, it didn't seem like anything unusual was happening, until that single spark transformed into a bright green glow. In an instant, an aura surrounded Tanis' unconscious form and enveloped him with strength, power, vigor! Its effects were immediate, a single twitch turned into three, those three turned into body movement, and within only the course of another second, Tanis' eyes flew open. Gone was the tirade that he had suffered through so far, and gone was any assortment of pain that had rendered him out of the realms of reality. Though whether he was actually feeling any of it was up to question. He didn't appear to look like he was, but his body did tell a story that got battered to a pulp! This doesn't seem to phase him, raising back to his feet, staring coldly directly in front of him: The scene of the Absol and Meadow that he had temporarily left to its own devices. The bright green aura surrounded his entire body, coating him like a fresh layer of paint on a wall. It generated a faint whistling and whooshing sound, like a gust of wind that didn't actually exist, and travelled from the bottom of his feet, all the way up to his head, where it then seemed to absorb into his body, likely to eventually expel back down from his paws again and repeat the entire process over. It's a spectacle only available to those who have the hidden capabilities that it bestows, and while there may be other variants, Tanis' Overgrow is no less a reinvigorating experience that essentially grants him a second crack at whatever he's trying to do. In this case, beating an Absol into submission. Whether the Absol was actually intimidated by this display, he didn't know, nor did he actually care. Tanis' stare at him was cold, and filled with a sheer malicious intent that would only be quenched by one end result. In hindsight, it was very reminiscent of the one that the Absol gave to Meadow just moments ago. The difference of course, was that this wasn't directed at her, it was most definitely on him, and he didn't attempt to hide it. He had declared his intent in wanting to battle and beat down the Absol, not to mention that he shared quite a few gazes of anger and generally unliked gazes at him. However, this was the proper first time that he showed an unwavering look that could meet the Absol's own malicious glance and still hold the intent that it proposed: Tanis was ready to kill! No amount of words, neither from Meadow or from the dark type himself was going to distract him from his goal. How dare he bring harm to the two of them, he was going to ensure that the Absol would learn the folly of his ways with his demise. Tanis said nothing. True to his form, he would allow his actions to speak for him when words would no longer suffice. He didn't care if the Absol was still laying in some random position from his fall, whether he was injured, or some other thing that could be considered otherwise being remorseful and regretful. It was solidified with his current action. Without hesitation, Tanis began taking confident strides forward, slowly closing the distance, not seemingly in any proper rush to deliver his verdict. But there was a reason why he didn't. A second form of energy was currently being collected within him in order to render that judgement. His body begun gathering white speckles of light as it all flowed and entered all segments of his body. The sunlight that had so far rained down upon the battlefield that had formed between the three seemed like it was twisting and manoeuvring ever so slightly towards Tanis himself, as if a stage's spotlights shifted towards him, yet the lights were still on. His body immediately reacted to the gathering, as his back shone a bright white glow. He could feel the sunlight pouring into him and generating plenty of energy to fuel his own reserves, which had also been emboldened from his Overgrow. In a similar scenario that Absol performed with his Future Sight, Tanis' upcoming attack also required a little time to unleash to its full potential. All Solarbeam's do. But the first sign of its true formation came from his mouth as it too shone within the confines of the dark caverns leading to his throat. The attack seems small, for the moment, but he'd yet to let the attack go yet. Instead he was content to simply continue moving forward as he continued to intake more of the light that seemed to follow him wherever he went. The Absol didn't want to fight, so he inwardly claimed. But throughout the course of his Future Sight attack, and what was approaching him now, two things were abundantly clear, if he wanted to stop the fight, he had to do it soon before they reach a point where it wasn't possible to stop, and it had to come at the cost of giving up his prize. If Tanis had taken the liberty of trying to protect Meadow to the point of going to that extreme, then he most certainly wasn't going to allow the Absol to take her away as a condition to end the fight. Even so, Tanis was confident that the dark type was not afraid of him even now. That was fine though... It would make little difference once he's dead. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Alright, so opted to fast-forward just a touch, and bring forth Tanis' next attack. Or rather the charging of his attack. Had great fun typing this one, as you could probably guess with how much I typed. Just as the Pichu finished her third consecutive and rage filled Disarming Voice, Meadow felt the Absol’s sudden ascent to the air. The Pichu gasped and clenched onto the scythe on his head, squeezing her eyes shut for two seconds. The small Pokemon carefully opened one eye to see the spectacle that was befalling the three Pokemon. The purple aura distorting the area in the air caused Meadow to let out a bit of a raspy yelp. The Pichu’s voice wasn’t all too raspy. She could still use quite a few more Disarming Voice if she allowed her voice a few moments of rest.
The Pichu clenched her teeth as the canine leaped directly into the looming aura, and Meadow knew that if it was something that the Absol wanted them to see, it couldn’t have been good. As much as the Pichu tried to continue her assault, the sign of imminent danger froze her. Once again, she was looking at the aura like a Deerling staring directly into a light, and could only clasp onto the scythe as best as she could. The Pichu looked down at Tanis, who was put directly into the line of impact, making the Pichu even more worried about this circumstance.
Just as it seemed like the three Pokemon would be consumed by the attack, Tanis made his move, and it wasn’t something she expected.
Meadow had her eyes sealed shut, squeezing her paws around the scythe as tight as she could. She waited one, two, three moments before realizing that something was off. It was only then that she heard Tanis’s voice. In a bit of panic, mixed with not enough time, the Pichu didn’t even think before huddling under Tanis’s protection, causing her eyes to widen and mouth to gape. “Tanis!” Meadow gasped softly, as she forced herself to look away as she covered her head with one of her paws while the other one kept a steel grip on the scythe. Meadow felt more tears form, and stream down her face.
How could she do that? How could she let him do that? Tanis was already harmed enough as it was, and she knew it! She had a broken foot, sure, but why didn’t she think to protect him? Meadow could tell that the attack was making the Treecko tense up in pain, and his grunts and groans caused the Pichu to let out sobs of anguish. How she so badly wanted to help her friend! How she badly wanted this… this monster… to suffer for what he was doing to Tanis.
At long last, the relentless attack finally came to a stop, but the horrified scene was far from over. The Treecko, now pretty much blacked out, had drooped over the Absol’s face, causing the Pichu to panic and sob. “Ah, Tanis, no!” The Pichu wrestled with the notion of shocking the Absol right then and there, but it seemed as though Tanis was still dangling. One finger stuck to the scythe of the Absol. Meadow reached to try and pull the Treecko onto the safety, or as safe as this monster’s head could be, before she had to duck down as the canine started to descend. Despite the Pichu’s desperation, she was not able to get a good hold of him in time before the Treecko flew off the Absol.
When the Absol landed, the Pichu let out a whimper as she continued to cry for her injured friend. For a split second after the landing, Meadow’s grip loosened on the scythe ever so slightly only to grip onto it with more vigor than ever. There was one good thing about Tanis letting go of the Absol: There was nothing stopping her from what she was about to do next!
Electricity aggressively danced around the Pichu as she glared intensely at her foe. Taking in a deep breath, Meadow let out a rageful yell as she unleashed as much of a ThunderShock as she could upon the Absol. This was not like the ThunderShock she had used to make the Absol let go of her when she was hiding in her sack. This one was a relentless attack that she meant to cause as much damage as she could. Even though her Disarming Voice was the more effective of the two moves, electric rodents instinctively let out their Electric Type moves whenever they were upset. Anger was the most prominent of emotions that triggered this.
Meadow kept this attack up for as long as she thought she could and even longer. She was determined not to stop until either she or the Absol were to black out. The Pichu knew for a fact that Tanis had done so much to keep her safe, but all she cared about was avenging him!
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be the one to black out first. After a solid thirty seconds of letting out electricity, Meadow finally completely let go of her foe’s scythe. The world around the Pichu faded into black as she seemed to be suffering the same fate as her friend. However, she was just able to see a glimmer of green glowing as she blacked out, and as she rolled down the Absol’s face, it was up to the her foe if she would land at his feet or be caught.
Her tears shimmered as she fell...
Meadow used ThunderShock!

Although the Pichu's Thundershock did hurt Lucifer somewhat, he remained conscious. Thankfully, the same could not be said for his prey. The Absol got to his feet and prepared to finally make the kill. However, the Treecko, thanks to his Overgrow, had other ideas. Lucifer was not intimidated, though. His own Pressure was still very much being exerted.
Instead, the Dark type made to pick up the unconscious Pichu in his mouth. Lucifer then watched the Treecko warily. He knew the Grass type was preparing some form of attack, judging by that white glow. However, the Absol was unafraid. Lucifer stood his ground and prepared to avoid whatever attack the Treecko threw at him.

That was quite the show and spectacle that Meadow had performed in front of his eyes. But it was no less satisfying to see the Absol squirm under the pressure and the flow of damage that was bought upon him through Meadow's Thundershock. She had continued the logic that Tanis had begun by closing up the distance and attacking that way, it had worked wonders for them both, yet it had come at a rather severe cost. Nonetheless, the Absol could do nothing to stop her from turning him into some sort of mobile tesla coil as every single spark was redirected specifically at him, flowing only into his body and the battery that was creating them. With the way that it was affecting him, Tanis could've sworn that he'd seen his skeleton makeup as his body reacted violently towards her own relentless attack. Where all of this had come from, he didn't have any idea. But the one thing he did know was that it was definitely a close proximity attack, that he wasn't close enough to get involved, so the two were on their own as far as that was concerned. It also generated as a most excellent distraction, and granted Tanis more than adequate time to fully charge up his Solarbeam. During which time, Meadow was too focused on her Thundershock to seemingly realize that the cause of her grief and just how upset she was had reawakened with a new sense of how he was going to tackle this battle, similarly the Absol had his paws full trying to resist that very attack she was pulsing through his body. To his credit, he was doing a sizable job of it, but it didn't change the fact that he was definitely starting to wear down from the continuous pressure that had been placed onto him. Turns out Pokémon didn't specifically needed the ability that he had to exert their own pressure in battle.
But the situation turned south for Meadow, as the constant electrocution that she supplied to the Absol had taken its toll, as she could no longer sustain the push. That was a real shame as she was definitely performing almost the exact same intent that Tanis had done with his Absorb moments earlier. It's that which would win them this battle: To keep applying the same amount of pressure as he was exerting upon them both. But the cost to do that was arguably too high, as much like Tanis himself when he took the Absol's Future Sight attack, Meadow slipped into unconsciousness moments after her assault had concluded. Falling and landing on the grass with the softest of the three thuds that would ring out the place in the span of the past minute. She put up an admirable offensive stance against her predator that was nothing short of spectacular and worthy of praise. Though perhaps not the hardest of opponents that the Absol has ever had the misfortune to call prey, she was not the easiest. It did start off as a time-costly, but otherwise easy meal that eventually turned into a rather heavy battle that he certainly wasn't quite prepared for. In that regard, Tanis' arrival would transform into a real pain in the Absol's neck, as it was him that both drove Meadow into defending herself, as well as bringing him into this very situation that they had before themselves: All three Pokémon battered, and two of them still willing to keep the fight going for longer.
The situation continued to turn against Tanis however. With Meadow now unconscious, the Absol was making tracks to make a grab for her. With his Solarbeam fully charged, it would've been no problem to fire it at both of them and force the dark type to take the hit. But the actual problem was not actually using the attack, as it was the fact that he was watching him approach the two of them, as he was preparing himself to scoop up Meadow in-between his teeth. He had kept the stored solar energy kept within the confines of his body, and more importantly his mouth, maintaining its strength through sheer force of will. Yet as he still continued to draw in more of the sun's energy to fuel more of its power, it was becoming increasingly difficult. His back was now no longer the only part of his body that shone with its white grandeur, his limbs were now a part of his light bulb impersonation as well, as they too glowed in a direct response to just how much energy he had been gathering. In fact, only his chest, stomach and his face were the only parts of him unaffected, yet even then the glowing that he was not fully capable to contained in his mouth did make the possibility of his face being unaffected to be questionable at best. At his current state, all he had to do was impulse his Overgrow into his blast, and he was firing it. But there was a flaw with that plan, and it again stemmed to the fact that the Absol was watching him. Time and again, he proved to be quite nimble on his paws. So the likely possibility that he'd avoid the Solarbeam was quite high. So if he unleashed it right at this second, he'd then need to recharge the thing to fire another one at him, at which point he'd have ample time to grab Meadow and make a bolt for it. With the time it could potentially take to actually fire the one he does have, the Absol could potentially still grab her, avoid it, and then bolt. That was a situation that he didn't specifically want to have to deal with, especially with a Pokémon who had lost all intent in actually continuing this battle. If he wanted to keep going with it, he would've attacked at that point. But he didn't, instead he once again made a play to go after Meadow.
This will not stand!
So, instead of firing off his accumulated energy and haphazardly just completely out of the blue, he instead opted for a more immediate effect of its influence. Admittedly he'd only actually ever done this once, but the impact it made was immense. Less so than actually firing the beam directly like he'd prefer to do, but it would work all the same. The key point was that it was quick, which was what he wanted out of it. He had to stop the Absol from grabbing Meadow, having him do so would be a catastrophe. At that point, Tanis had walked the majority of the travel that he slid away from the remaining two, now only about four feet away. Like his opponent, he was also making his way towards Meadow's lay position, though not for the intention of slaying and gobbling her up, but more to merely reach that position. This didn't stop him from acting. In a motion that first seemed quite weird, Tanis snapped the fingers of his right paw, creating a very satisfying clicking sound as he did so. His gaze never once left the Absol's as much as his never left Tanis'. In that single, solitary motion, Tanis' limbs immediately died down and returned back to its usual coloration, no longer glowing its bright white splendour. Similarly, the green aura that once surrounded him evaporated into nothing in a span that lasted no more than a single second. Finally, he no longer looked like he was conflicting himself with firing off a beam that he was containing within his mouth. In spite of that, his back still glowed, and there was still a formation of a light in his mouth, similar in a way to the state he had it while he was initially charging his attack.
The purpose of his action was crystal clear right from the outside. In a span that lasted no longer than three seconds, if that, the sun rays that had so far been buffeting the field with its cunning, yet overlooked presence that not too many Pokémon ultimately cared about unless the weather changed, suddenly intensified, almost to a blinding state. The heat generated by the sudden blend of the rays pelted everyone, including Tanis, and forced even himself, their controller, into creating visible sweat. If that was all that he had intended to do, then that likely wouldn't be enough to make the Absol stop in his tracks. But the simple fact was that it was not all that he had intended to do, and it made its presence felt with immediate impact. Mere centimetres away from Meadow herself, in the precise spot that Absol had stood on in order to scoop her up, a massive and very obvious beam spewed out from the sun's very light, mixing in the unformed and twisting particles that made up the world and transforming it into a plasma state. From there it was a simple matter of slamming the result into the ground where the Absol stood. Which Tanis did without any hesitation.
The Solarbeam took on the same white color that had transformed Tanis' own looks, as Tanis transferred some of the sunlight that he had gathered back into the sun itself, which in turn created the same sort of predicament to it than it was doing to him: An excess of energy and nowhere for it to go. That, alongside the solar power that was still being gathered, both by himself, and by the excess that the sun had suddenly acquired, gave two benefits to the Treecko: He was recharging his attack from a midpoint, and what he'd transferred back to the sun itself would have to go somewhere, which, as it turned out, was directly in the Absol's path to Meadow, literally right in front of her nose! In a very similar situation that had befallen both himself and Meadow when Future Sight was involved, Tanis fired his Solarbeam from the skies to land upon his foe. The difference however, was that the Absol made it perfectly clear just what he aimed to do. Tanis kept a poker face and merely continued walking even after snapping his fingers, and didn't let on at all that it was coming until it had already happened. That said, he didn't have to, the sun did a keen enough job in showcasing what was coming without him having to do anything or say a word.
As for the Solarbeam that punished the ground, and potentially the Absol himself, it was equally as destructive as it was lethal. Instantly slamming into the ground, the Solarbeam threatened to engulf anything and everything within its influence. The grass that had once flourished stood zero chance of surviving within the beam's ray. In a matter of seconds, every piece of greenery on the ground that once existed where the Solarbeam struck transformed to ash, and then evaporated to nothing. The rays are just too hit and concentrated that despite being a part of the ecosystem, it did not discriminate to whoever was within its core. What made this Solarbeam different in comparison to others that other Pokémon may use, was that the outline of the otherwise white ray was coated in a bright green hue, explaining away where the aura that had surrounded Tanis had disappeared to: It was fuelling his attack, adding more destructive force to an attack that already had plenty of destructive force behind it. Meadow was right all along: Grass types can be fickle at times. But Tanis was confident that not even the Absol could withstand a show of force intent for him in his current condition. Could he handle it? Maybe, but if he took it, he likely wouldn't have much left afterwards, if anything at all.
This, of course, implied that the Absol was dense enough to actually stay where he was and took the time to scoop up Meadow in his mouth. If he did, then he was taking the attack with its full force. If the implications of him dodging anything Tanis threw at him was any kind of indication, as was suspected, then more likely he would not waste any time in avoiding it. Either way, the entire purpose of using the Solarbeam in that manner was not actually to try and strike the Absol with it, though he wasn't going to argue if he didn't get out of its way. It was actually intended as a warning shot, and to drive him away from where Meadow lay. In either case, he was not about to allow the Absol to have his way. The Solarbeam lasted a grand total of six seconds, during which time it never let up or slow down whatsoever until it drew to a close and dissipated with nothing but a single, but harmless, solar stream indicating the middle point of where Tanis sent it to deliver its payload. With the energy spent, the sun's rays died back down to its usual influence, as if nothing had even happened. Except there was a massive crop-circle from where the Absol was originally, so tantalizingly close to where Meadow lay, Tanis wouldn't at all have been surprised that she wouldn't have forgiven him for doing it. Protrusions of smouldering smoke emitted from the circle that showed the evidence of what was once an attack of massive proportions, could it be considered stronger than Absol's own Future Sight? That was debateable, but it made for an excellent contender! On a similar note, for a mere warning shot, that still seemed quite lethal in its nature.
The purpose for its six second duration had a secondary effect. With it now diminished, it only took a couple more seconds for Tanis to take his new position that he wanted to make in this battle: Directly in front of Meadow, as close as his Solarbeam was arguably, and standing in-between the Absol and her once again. Much like the first time, he had prepared to stake his claim, but Tanis had intervened, and wasn't going to allow the dark type to pass without him getting involved first. He proclaimed his statement and want to battle the first time around, which what led everyone to this point in time. On this particular occasion however, he bought to light a new statement, one that equally shared just what his intentions were, and how far he would go to stake his own claim. "Only over my dead body!" Tanis spoke with conviction and with an unshakable confidence that despite the clear showing of force that Absol had made known during the course of everything that happened, Tanis was not going to allow him to have his way without at least having to deal with him first. His eyes remained completely focused on what was before him, the dark type's scorn. That did not deter him, nor drag him away from meeting his cold gaze with his own. Right here, right now, were two Pokémon who had the full capacity to kill another, and for Tanis, he would stoop to that low to acquire his end goal! If the Absol wanted to claim his prize and have his meal however, he would have to kill Tanis first. That was the final and ultimate bold claim that Tanis put forward, and he was willing to back up that statement with his actions.
With Meadow lay literally a single pace behind Tanis, Tanis performed, arguably, the strangest thing that he'd ever done so far throughout this entire skirmish: Nothing! So far, he had done everything in his power to force the Absol to react to him and his moves. Having now finally come to terms with the fact that doing so might potentially lessen his chances in actually coming out on top of this, he opted for a completely different strategy. He was going to do the polar opposite of what he'd been doing the entire time. He was going to wait, and respond to what the Absol did. That wasn't to say that he was just standing around waiting. With the energy expended, Tanis once again recharged his Solarbeam so it was ready to fire. At that particular point, he was still on the tail-end of forming it up, his back glowed still, like it had done the entire warning shot he fired, and his mouth hid a deadly secret that he had yet to unveil. What also came back was his green aura, which had disappeared during the course of the Solarbeam he generated, its conclusion marked no further use of its influence fuelling its strength, and so the aura returned to him and flowed through him in precisely the same manner it had beforehand. What he would do next would fully depend on what the Absol did. He had all sorts of answers which could dampen the dark-types day. A second Future Sight would open him up to a Solarbeam, closing distance haphazardly would also open him up to an assault against him. We shan't discuss what a point-blank Solarbeam would do... However, Tanis kept his eyes firmly on the Absol, he was merely waiting for him to make a slip or an action that would open him up to a counter-attack.
It would be the Absol, and not Tanis, that would instigate things further.
But if the Absol wanted to claim his meal, Tanis was giving him no other choice than to force his way right through him, lest he be continuously slapped around as he tried to curve around him and tried to claim Meadow for himself otherwise. It was a brand new dilemma, yet Tanis wasn't hiding the fact that he was preparing for another one of those Solarbeams that he'd just fired off. He was already partially charged, having held back in order to transform the attack into a warning shot. If only Meadow was still awake, maybe she could make some lick of sense to this whole situation, as it stood however, she provided a most ample excuse to take things to their absolute limit. Yet with his proclamation, he had to make sure he was careful and not endanger both himself or Meadow at the same time. So for the first time since the battle began, he waited for another to act first. Such an unusual concept, yet one that he opted for.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
So here we are. A stand-off. The tears of Meadow are recognised as Tanis unveils his true intentions. Come at him Lucifer, if he dares! Nothing short of death will make him give her up!

Meadow’s situation made the circumstance that Tanis had to get around… rather odd.
The Pichu, now in between the two front paws of the canine she was mercilessly shocking before succumbing to her own attack. Curse her unkind weakness! If it wasn’t bad enough the Pichu was so frail, she ended up breaking her own foot without the Absol so much as making the least bit of a mark with his attack, now she knocked herself out using an attack of her own! Being a Pichu was a curse! She absolutely hated the circumstance it always caused her…
Of course, Meadow wasn’t feeling anything but empty darkness at the moment. She couldn’t even think about being afraid about the Absol, or angry about what happened to Tanis. Everything around her was dark…
… “See what I’m talking about, guys?” Meadow flinched as her eyes flashed open at the familiar voice. Sitting up, the Pichu was not being hovered by the killer canine anymore, but being sneered at by one of her brothers. The Pichu’s chest clenched as she took exasperated breaths to try to calm herself down. This was all some sick prank done by her brothers? But… but it all felt so real! Whatever the case, Meadow was absolutely livid with rage as she whimpered.
“That wasn’t funny!” Meadow had to pause between breaths as the Pichu placed a paw on her chest. “You really scared me!”
The brother who spoke initially, a Pikachu who was older than her, let out a chuckle. “Well, duh!” he taunted. “You’re scared of literally everything!” The Pikachu dusted his stomach off a bit. “I was just trying to get you to evolve, is all.”
Meadow scoffed. “Well,” she hissed. “That wasn’t nice! How would you feel if you thought someone you cared about was being attacked?”
“Geez,” the Pikachu rolled his eyes. “Calm down, Pansy, it was just a joke!” The Pikachu laughed as the Pichu glared up at her older brother. She’d already told him that pansies weren’t actually weak, and he insisted on calling her one despite that. Meadow knew he wasn’t stupid, so he had to be ignoring her on purpose.
“For the last time,” Meadow gritted her teeth. “Pansies aren’t actually flimsy!”
The Pikachu placed a paw on his chin. “Did you tell me that before?” The Pikachu shrugged. “Maybe. But the fact still remains, you’re still a measly little Pichu.”
Meadow crossed her arms. “So?” Meadow asked. “Why’s that any of your business? What if I like being a Pichu? What if I don’t want to evolve?”
“Phht!” Her brother struggled to contain his laughter. “That’s a lie! We all know how hard you’ve been trying.”
The Pichu dared to timidly glance at her older brother as her ears slumped. “Y-you do?” she squeaked.
“Well, duh,” he scoffed. “It’s obvious! You’ve literally tried everything, and we all know you still want to. I mean, I know you’re still into namby pamby flowers, but who wants to be a Pichu for the rest of their lives?” Her brother let out a belly laugh. “I suppose it could be possible for you, but honestly, who wants to shock themselves as much as their enemy? In your case, you probably shock yourself more than your enemy!”
Meadow’s cheeks sparked as she glared at her brother. “That’s not true!” she argued. “I fight as well as any Pichu would!”
“Yeah,” the brother agreed. “But Pichu can’t hold a candle to Pikachu!” Meadow glared. Why couldn’t he or any of her siblings just leave her alone? She was an adult now, for Aceus’s sake! She was living on her own, with her own job and her own life. Why did she constantly have to have Pokemon bug her about trivial things like evolution?
It wasn’t like she didn’t try or even disliked the notion of evolving. She just couldn’t quite figure out how to do it!
Just when it seemed like her brother’s taunting would never end, a stream of bright light consumed him, causing her to let out a horrified gasp! Suddenly, the world around her was black again as she looked around to try and find her brother. Suddenly, Tanis’s face appeared before her, seemingly glaring at something that was right behind her. “Over my dead body!” she barely heard him say as she turned around to see the same Absol, only ten times bigger, and looming over both of them. If the Absol was scary before, he was absolutely horrifying now!
The Pichu let out a terrified yelp, causing the Absol to smirk as he dove in to grab her. The Pichu let out a shrill screech before her eyes suddenly opened, and she found herself back in the forest. The Pichu was forced to close her eyes again in reaction to a splitting headache, placing a paw on her head as she tried to push herself up with her other paw. It was then that she was reminded of a certain injury she’d sustained earlier.
If kicking her broken foot over the Absol’s neck hurt, then the fall made the pain all the more worse. Thankfully, it didn’t seem like she managed to hurt anything else, but it was then that it dawned on her that someone could be trying to kill her now! However, Meadow looked upward, and to her surprise, her eyes didn’t meet the leering gaze of a predator, but rather the back of a friend. Meadow’s face formed a relieved smile. Despite all of that, the Treecko still managed to keep himself in the fight.
Meadow managed to push herself up into a crawling position, despite the now extreme pain her foot was in, causing the rodent to whine much like she had before. As the Treecko waited, Meadow assumed the position she had the moment he had arrived and was face to face with the Absol: she stationed herself right behind him. Her head was still pounding, and the small Pokemon ended up having to lay herself closer to Tanis’s feet despite trying to straighten herself up. The pain from her foot was much too unbearable now. She couldn’t focus enough on making an attack, and simply had to try and keep herself hidden behind him.
Meadow looked up at the extremely injured Treecko with intensely remorseful eyes. How badly she still wanted to help him! How badly she wanted to stand up and help, but couldn’t. She would do what she could, though, and that was keep her eye on her friend, but keep an ever more watchful eye on her enemy. It didn’t seem like either one of them would make a move, but Meadow as alright with that. After all, the Absol couldn’t reach her now. The best outcome, as far as Meadow was concerned, would be for the canine to just walk away without any more altercations. ---
Alright, guys, just letting you know that it’s very possible that this will be my last post for a little while. I’m going on vacation for a week starting tomorrow, but I will try to make posts while I’m there. I’ll have my computer, and internet access most likely, but I may not have time to post. I’ll try, but it’s a real possibility. It seems as though this rp may end soon anyway (depending on what Rune does), so it shouldn’t be too bad.
See you soon!
Also, in case you didn’t notice, yes, all of that stuff with her brother was a bizarre dream. I thought it would be rather surreal, and add more to my post, so yeah. She wakes up after Tanis says “Over my dead body!”

Lucifer crept closer to the Pichu. He prepared to grab the rodent. However, the Treecko's Solarbeam put a stop to the Absol's attempt. Lucifer leapt backwards out of the Solarbeam's path. He was not about to leave, though.
The Dark type fluffed up his mane in anger at the Treecko's interference. "This does not concern you." Lucifer glared at the gecko. He just wanted the green pest to go away. The Absol was still hungry and he wanted his meal. Lucifer could not allow the Pichu to live, either. The yellow mouse had lived far too long in his opinion.

Tanis' fancy trick, if it could be considered anything in that regard, performed exactly as he was expecting it to, even down to the direction that the Absol took in his attempts to avoid it. Leaping backwards was the best option at that particular point, and in a strange way, it had almost been implemented and used to actually entice the dark type to leap that specific way. Lo-and-behold, that was exactly what he did. Now if Tanis had any actual capability of controlling that method of Solarbeam, he likely could've utilized the predicted movements in order to gain the upper-hand and really do something to make his day even worse-off than Tanis being there in the first place. The unfortunate fact, sadly, was that he didn't have enough charge at that particular moment to follow-up. That and he wasn't planning to try anything cunning enough in that way, not at that point. The purpose of his attack's placement was to remove the Absol from the immediate scene, and turn into the one-foot wall that separated him and Meadow, exactly like he'd done from his initial entrance. The leap backwards provided more than enough distance for Tanis to slink in after his Solarbeam wrecked havoc on the ground before the Absol had an opportunity to lunge for a second time. There wasn't anything stopping him from lunging, of course, Tanis hadn't exactly done anything to incapacitate him or otherwise threaten him that doing so would be a huge mistake, though who he was lunging to was most certainly different now. All Tanis had to do was shift his position depending on where the Absol went in order to make himself the target. A simple enough matter considering he was standing so close to Meadow, one step backwards would be enough to trample all over her, or more likely trip over her and fall flat on his back. Which while that would be highly amusing, wouldn't make the scenario any more disjointed than it already was.
But chances had begun to return on his side once again with Meadow coming to from her Thundershock-induced coma. Though comprised differently in the form of how the pair actually fell unconscious, both Pokémon beat the odds and remained among the land of the living. Admittedly, Tanis had a much easier time in picking himself back up since his Overgrow had so far been granting him an emboldening of further strength that he didn't have until that particular point. That fuelled his body in the sense that, despite the pounding that he took, his act of getting himself upright was so much more easier. More easier than Meadow was finding the precise same task at least. He hadn't put too much credence into the thought when he realized that she was hurt in some manner, as he had seen her limping around and favouring walking on three legs rather than all four. He didn't completely connect all the dots however, as he wasn't entirely convinced that was where her true pain resided. As it turns out though, he should've paid a bit more attention to that fact, as not only as her awkward landing had made the leg excruciatingly painful to the point of literally complete uselessness, but she was failing in the most simplest of tasks to standing back up. Even so, she was still awake and alert enough to realize her predicament, which made Tanis feel as though she realized the situation as a whole was not over just yet.
Even if there was a small break in the overall action...
Tanis couldn't even begin to imagine what troubles or thoughts was running through Meadow's mind at that particular moment as she shifted and shuffled in a vain attempt to at least try and get back up. Ultimately failing and resigning herself to staying on the ground as close to Tanis as she was physically capable of doing. Though he wasn't specifically watching her with her struggles, nor could he see her face and what was causing her troubles, he had a pretty good summation of where the primary source of her troubles were, and he was glaring right at him. The war that had eclipsed everything that both the Absol, Tanis and even Meadow had escalated to its highest degree, had degraded to an informal glaring contest between two of them, with the other rousing herself and merely watching the proceedings unfold. If what he felt on the few occasions that Meadow brushed his feet and lower legs during her tirade on her quest to be on two feet again was anything to go by, she had either given up, or was still in the process on doing so. In his mind's eyes, he pictured exactly what Meadow had done behind him. Long imagination short, he was wrong, but his summation that she was still on the ground at the end of it all was the only portion that he got right.
Regardless of her current situation, Tanis had a partially new dilemma that he had to consider. With Meadow behind him, and the Absol getting all of his attention in front of him a little ways away, he had to ensure that he at least knew where she was before considering anything else that had to do with that Dark type. His reaction to that notion may seem quite strange, especially most likely towards Meadow herself, but he felt vindicated in doing so for more than one reason. It seems minor, or maybe even an accident that could potentially be forgiven as a sleight of movement or a brief moment in loss of focus. The simple fact was, it was intentional and he remained completely focused on the task at hand, which was the glaring contest that he was in the middle of. As simple as the motion was, it designed more than even Tanis would admit openly. But almost nonchalantly, Tanis removed all tension, or as much tension as he was capable of doing, onto his tails, allowing them to flop amusingly on top of Meadow herself, given her close proximity to his own position. That was where they remained for as long as he would be right there with her. He didn't know just where exactly they were on Meadow specifically, as he didn't know if she was lay on her back, on her side, in some combination between the two, or some other unworldly situation that he didn't want to consider. With his eyes fully trained on the Absol, he spared no time to dart his eyes to the yellow mouse, so he opted to use another of his senses to ensure he knew exactly where she was: Touch. By having his tails on her, he could feel where she was without having to turn around and see for himself.
But that wasn't the only reason. Though he wasn't sure for absolute certainty, basing the premise behind the action between what he does know about her, and what he bore witness to throughout this entire bout since his arrival. Tanis' legs probably didn't do a suitable job of doing what he felt Meadow wanted at that moment, or that's what he concluded was the case anyway. So by placing his tails on her, he hoped somewhat that they'd be suitable enough to reassure her and be a form of comfort amid'st an otherwise terrifying glare from the Absol. Admittedly, he didn't think that it would work well enough all things considered, but anything would be better than nothing at this point. If nothing else, it was a suitable replacement in his mind from turning around, picking her up and dusting her off, telling her that she'd be alright. How simply flopping his tails down would convey that much was definitely up to question, but his actions didn't normally reflect what he actually wanted to do half the time. That's what he did, that's essentially the end of it. Despite that however, there was actually a backup reason behind him doing that. This time more for his sake rather than it was Meadow's.
Actually, the fact that she was awake and keeping an eye on the proceedings did a little more for the situation than the Absol or even Tanis himself would care to admit in terms of what Tanis ultimately did as a result of what the dark type did. In the fact that the Absol didn't actually do anything except glare menacingly at him to meet with his own equally as menacing a glare. This was arguably the last thing that Tanis had to want to deal with, was the awkward resemblance of a situation where both Pokémon had reached a stalemate of sorts where neither Pokémon wanted to ultimately make any sort of move that could jeopardize their chances at clinching victory from their prolonged battle. The Absol had taken an obvious beating, but not enough that he was bought down to his metaphoric knees. Similarly, Tanis had taken an equally, if not slightly more, battering from the Absol. The next move either Pokémon would make could potentially be the deciding factor on the entire battle. Both Pokémon knew that, at least Tanis did. He suspected the Absol did too, considering that he was opting to allow his tongue to wag again in speech despite at least two attempts from him to inform the dark type that the time for talking was over. Now that they had both reached a precarious position in the battle, there was always the possibility that mouths would run, trying to find a chink in the armour. However, this made the second time that he didn't actually do anything actively against them. He was holding his ground, and that's certainly one thing. But as far as actually dislodging the pair of them physically went, he remained inert.
That was where the other reason behind bringing his tails to Meadow came into play. In a situation much like this one, the temptation to just go after the other is overwhelmingly strong. As a Pokémon of action, and not so much of words, as the Absol clearly seems to be, he would usually be the one to break the mediocrity of the stalemate but just going after them again. He did it numerous times in the past against other Pokémon, each one with mixed results. He had actually done it twice against this Absol already, both times he went after him that both ended with mixed results that none of them came out on top overall. What made both of those instances much more appealing to charge ahead and take the fight to him, was that he was confident that Meadow could handle herself as he did so. This time, he wasn't entirely convinced that he could. This, alongside the fact that he actually wanted to wait for the Absol to do something so he could react was still relatively fresh in his mind, even if it was constantly getting re-replaced with the urge to leap forward and attack again. There's two reasons that he ultimately doesn't budge from his spot, in much the same way the Absol doesn't move from his: Meadow, and his Solarbeam. From his Solarbeam's perspective, he'd spent the entire glaring contest that had transpired, along with Meadow's game of twister, charging the potential attack. Now that he had, his body was filled and practically overflowing with sunlight, that he couldn't actually intake any more. It hadn't stopped his body from actually trying, but as soon as some is absorbed, the exact same amount gets expelled back into the atmosphere, mostly as heavy white smoke that expelled from his nose and mouth, depending on which of the two he exhaled a breath from at that moment in time. At that precise moment, his limbs regained the similar white glow that his back had been expelling, and his mouth contained the very instrument of destruction that could effectively wipe away even more of the lavish forest that surrounded them all. If it wasn't for the fact that his Overgrow still remained around himself, and wasn't surrounding itself around his upcoming Solarbeam as opposed to around him, that Solarbeam he's holding in would already be hurtling right at the Absol faster than he could say 'Holy Arceus', or whatever deity's name he worshipped. As much as Tanis wanted to dash in and strike that dark type for all that he was worth, he didn't ultimately have to. He already had a ranged attack primed and ready to go. He had no reason, feelings aside, to rush in and attack if he could just do it from where he was standing.
The second reason was reminding himself just why he was standing where he was in that moment. By placing his tails on Meadow directly, as well as all the other reasons and benefits that the act granted, it gave him constant and stark reminders of the conclusion he reached, and why he shouldn't act so brash and act on impulse instead of doing the more smarter thing, which he was doing anyway. He knew himself as much as anyone else did, and he knew that any sort of trigger from anyone would reignite his overwhelming urge to react violently accordingly. The Absol's words certainly did an excellent job of getting in his skin to the point of him seriously considering going in for the attack for a third time. What changed his mind? Meadow. By having his tails on her general person, regardless of where they ended up, it cemented his reason for keeping his head atop his shoulders. Whenever he felt his switch being flipped, his tails gave him a stark reminder of Meadow's current situation, which would remind him about his Solarbeam, which would then tell him the core reason he was waiting in the first place. That accumulation would have him reluctantly flip the switch off and return the overall situation back into a stalemate. Temptation aside, this was a skirmish that he couldn't afford to lose enough to lose his thought process now and blindly charge in without so much as a plan.
As aggravating as it may have been, Tanis was going to wait, just like he considered he would.
In spite of his actions, he could see that the Absol was rather miffed even before Tanis had any say in the matter at this junction. Not that Tanis actually had anything to really say about any of the five words that was growled at him. Yet he knew exactly why he said it. The Absol wanted Tanis to reconsider his stance with standing in the way between him and his prize. He'll be the first to admit the one of the main reasons that he got involved in this in the first place was a selfish one that would bring into question why he even did it at all. He didn't feel the need to actually share that reason with anyone, least of all this Absol. But he did have a second reason, and the combination of both of those reasons together fused and created a perfect and legitimate excuse to instigate the battle. Tanis wasn't too willing to share that other reason with the Absol either, as he felt doing so would make him lose credibility in the threatening stance that he was imposing against his assailant. Both the Absol and Meadow could likely figure out that second reason for themselves if they consider it hard enough, but it would involve considering his previous actions and the logic behind them. But whether the dark type considered that he had the time to do that without Tanis jumping at the opportunity of him being distracted was a different matter entirely. But so long as the Absol didn't actually make a move, than neither would Tanis. He continued to leave an imposing impression with his glaring, meeting the cold stare with his own, which continued even now, combined with his looming Overgrow, and the threat of his Solarbeam. All the Absol had to do was look down at the still-smouldering remains that used to be grass on the ground to see that what he had charged up and ready to go is more than enough to destroy the forest itself, given enough time. That was likely not an attack the Absol wanted to get caught in, but ultimately whether he could take the full brunt of it or not was down to his capabilities rather than what Tanis thought, which was that he couldn't. Because if he could, he would've attacked again!
But there was one thing that Tanis was going to oblige the Absol, and that was a retort. Neither of them were willing to make a move, and Absol was more than willing to pass a comment. With Tanis having kept his cool enough to not lunge at the dark type at that comment, and not wanting to make things even worse than they probably already were by keeping silent, the best course of action, as far as he could think of, was to quip back. Was he afraid that what he would say would get the Absol to attack? Absolutely not, he wanted the dark type to come after him! The issue was that he's not a wordsmith. Meadow is, and the Absol is, but he wasn't. Far from it actually. If anything, everything that he said could be considered as more of an aggressive or bordering stupidity, if not both. But what made that comment most interesting, was that it sounded quite similar to a situation that the Absol himself stated before, which Tanis called him out on. "... You said that already." Tanis' voice was not a happy one, nor a welcoming one. It was one that portrayed he was still not all that willing to actually talk rather than he was much more clearly willing to make the Absol eat his Solarbeam. But he wasn't going to spend that long thinking about what he was going to say, he stated only what he knew. Namely, he called the Absol out that he had already said to him that this entire thing that he and Meadow were having was of no concern to him. It was around the time that he had called Tanis something akin to an Aipom and Ambipom, intended as an insult, but one that flew over Tanis' head through lack of understanding of who those Pokémon were. Yet, as Tanis also pointed out. "... I didn't leave then either!" In fact, all he did as a result of that was strike the Absol with a Quick Attack. The word 'either' definitely claimed to the fact that he wasn't going to adhere to the Absol's unasked request to make him get lost. Tanis felt no logical reason besides maybe self-preservation that would make him do that. Certainly an Absol that was just standing there barking at him is going to be very dangerous to his health. Ooooh! Scary!
Tanis said nothing beyond those few solitary words. With no reason to move, leave or say anything else, all that remained was merely waiting for the Absol to actually do something, and hopefully something that wasn't a repeat of something that he'd already said before. Nothing more troubling than having to remind a bigger idiot than he was of a fact that he should've already known. Yes, he didn't say anything from that comment the first time around, but he thought the attack that followed was a good enough answer than any. Still, at least now there was clarification on the fact, so that's one thing less on the Absol's mind, he guessed. Tanis was part way tempted to comment back with one of his own, but at this junction, he didn't want to. He could prove he had patience...
... Just...

Meadow’s ears flinched as she felt the tails pat down on her back, allowing herself to relax quite a bit. Tanis’s confidence was contagious, and it was more than enough to make her feel like she would be safe, at least for the moment. But their confrontation was far from over, and the two of them knew it. Tanis had taken so much damage from this altercation as it was that Meadow was surprised he was still standing even now. If her foot wasn’t as harmed as it was at that moment, she would have made quite the good distraction to back up Tanis’s Solarbeam. The Absol wouldn’t have been able to juggle trying to catch her and avoid Solarbeam at the same time. She wasn’t able to catch her even when Tanis wasn’t there.
Meadow reached up and placed a paw on one of his tails, focusing her attention solely on their foe. Tanis wasn’t the only one glaring at the Absol. Meadow made her intentions quite clear as she braved a glare directly into his eyes. If he made a wrong move, the Absol was going to regret it. If all else failed, there was always her trusty Disarming Voice. Just because she couldn’t move didn’t mean she couldn’t let out a scream.
There was also ThunderShock, but… Well, that worked so well last time didn’t it?
Meadow wouldn’t distract her friend. Tanis wouldn’t be in nearly as much danger if he stayed focus. She certainly wouldn’t be that distraction. She refused to be the one who would cause him to lose an opportunity to teach this horrible Pokemon a lesson. Until then, she would remain right where she was.
“Mind his own business?” Meadow spoke, her anger causing her to speak with much more confidence than she ever remembered having before. “Why don’t you mind your own business instead of picking on Pokemon who have nothing to do with you? Why don’t you leave Pokemon who are minding their own business alone?” Meadow felt her lungs clench of slight fear. It was too much for her to hide, but she still didn’t back down. “Why don’t you mind your own business?” ---
Sorry! I'm having a blast with this rp! Meadow's circumstance is just making it hard for me to make decent sized posts.

Lucifer snorted at the Treecko's words. He could not understand why the reptile was even bothering to protect a pathetic little Pichu. "I am well aware of that." The Absol continued to glare at the Treecko. "That is because you are a fool."
The rodent's words diverted Lucifer's attention. He let out a cold chuckle. "Yeah, mind his own business." The Dark type was amused by the little Pokemon's attempt to be tough. "Because weaklings are not meant to live. Only the strong survive in this world." Lucifer saw himself as a strong Pokemon. The Pichu was a weakling. "Hunting prey is my business."
