'A chance of redemption never exists for those undeserving!'
Applepine Forest, for all intents and purpose, is merely nothing more than a shadow of its former self. The sunlight brightens the otherwise moody atmosphere to hide its deadly and sinister problem that houses within the forest floor. The once bright green and numerous trees that littered the forest is more lacklustre than it was some time ago. Though numerous trees have stood strong against the problems that it faces, and continues to give the location its name still, some trees that also shared its greenery and stood tall, now stand decrepit and lacking life. Its branches lack leaves and apples, as if winter has suddenly been brought from the heavens! In spite of all of this, the forest continues to try its best to fight the overwhelming odds against it, and service the Pokémon that consider this place their home.
Which is ultimately becoming its downfall.
Some time ago, a time before Tanis even left for Invictus in the first place, a Grimer infestation had plagued the forest and had begun making the place their home. For all anyone knew, they had always done so... But not as heavily as they are doing so at this present moment. Apparently a group of Growlithe's have requested assistance for the removal of the Grimer hindrance that is polluting and populating the land, taking and harvesting food and only leaving a foul stench and poison on the forest floor and the vines that surround it. This in turn has caused deterioration among the trees that make up the forest. Fortunately not irreversible damage... At the moment. But if continued to be left unchecked, this forest may very well become inhospitable to anyone. Though the damage may only be slight, this could also bring long-term ramifications to the ecosystem of the entire world. One less forest means more global problems, even if the problem itself is not obvious overnight.
This isn't really anything that Tanis would give two Aipom's about if it were up to him. So, why is he here in the first place? Put simply, coming here wasn't even his idea in the first place. He was coerced here by the powers that be whom decided that the situation with the Grimers had gone on for far too long, and it was time to send able bodies out there to go deal with the problem! Admittedly, Tanis isn't the only one that was sent... But he was among the only ones whom was taken advantage of. Even in spite of that, Tanis didn't really feel any immediate rush to run headlong into Grimer territory, which appeared to be everywhere by this point. Still, if he was going to be given any sort of any fighting chance in Invictus, apparently this was the way to start!
Stood atop a tree branch of a live tree that he originally scaled to sight-see, Tanis lay with one leg dangling off the side, swinging it lightly to and fro as he basked in the warm sunlight that hit every part of his skin with its rays. He made the mistake of going somewhere else last time that turned out to rain... Which he wasn't fond of at all. Today, not a cloud in the sky! Perfect weather if he's ever seen it! The rustling of the tree leaves nearby as a light wind blew by gave him some much needed tranquillity after what has so far been an escalation of trouble, one after another. He'd been up on the tree branch for a good half an hour, during which he's spotted a few Pokémon who have merely passed by in some manner or another, nothing that resembled this Grimer that he's been told about.
... Although 'Purple moving sludge' wasn't exactly a good description...
Lazily, Tanis connects his front paws together in front of his chest, leaning on the trunk of the tree in a sat position, his left leg lay on the branch with his right off the branch and adhering to gravity. His eyes were struggling to stay open as the sun continues to bathe him in its warm glow. If it wasn't for this so-called Grimer problem, this would be a good place to relax and just forget the world. In fact, he's quite close to just doing so even with this Grimer issue. His eyes started feeling heavy in spite of the day only being late-morning. A nap under the sun is just what the Treecko ordered. The problem will still be there for him to deal with a little later after all, there's no rush.
So, I've decided that I'm absolutely dreadful at introducing threads. Orz... This thread will be open, so if anyone wants in on the event and wants to chime in, feel free. I'll give it a few days like I usually do, then I'll start a solo act. Feel free to join in at any time, everyone's welcome!
