Over her hair, Leliana wears a large, lightweight silver helmet with a long red plume sprouting from the top of it, representing her family heritage. PERSONALITY // WHO ARE YOU? LIKES ✔ OVERLY COMPLEX STRATAGEMS: A planner at heart, Leliana is inordinately fond of complex and confusing maneuvers for both combat encounters as well as typical social encounters. She enjoys both devising them as well as executing them, and will often make plans in her head for any sort of situation. ✔ FRUSTRATINGLY DULL LITERATURE: A fan of the classics, Leliana is incredibly fond of large, boring texts, and often spends large amounts of time deciphering them to interpret their meaning. ✔ CHARMINGLY SUGARY SWEETS: Despite her taciturn demeanor, Leliana is often quite smitten with any form of sweet. These often invoke a complete change in personality for her, as she becomes excitable and energetic before and after consuming sweets. Her favourite sweets are cookies. DISLIKES ✖ THE ACT OF FALLING ASLEEP: The nighttime tends to bring up some pretty horrific feelings for Leliana. She would much rather be awake, able to defend herself from whatever threats lurk in the night, rather than subject herself to the onslaught of nightmares that plague her dreams. ✖ THE ACT OF BETRAYING A FRIEND: Betrayal is one thing Leliana is quite familiar with, and refuses to do it under any circumstances. This can range from actual betrayals, such as fighting against a friend, to simply taking the last of a friend's favourite sweet without offering one to them. ✖ THE ACT OF LETTING HER GUARD DOWN: Despite her kind demeanor and peaceful atmosphere, Leliana strives to maintain distance from all of her friends and allies. Few truly can say they know the "real" Leliana. HABITS ► CARRIES A JOURNAL: During the night, as opposed to sleeping, she will often write down what happened that day in her journal, including details on her companions and friends. ► CORRECTS THE SPEECH OF OTHERS: Will often correct imperfect grammar and syntax when applicable, even if the recipient would prefer her not to. ► HUMS WHILE WORRIED: Despite her best efforts to the contrary, Leliana will often find herself humming at times of distress. Once she catches herself, she will attempt to stop, but usually goes back to humming after she has stopped paying attention. FEARS ► ATYCHIPHOBIA [FAILURE]: Due to her childhood being filled with pressure to succeed, Leliana has developed a major fear of failing herself or her friends. She will do anything to succeed. ► ONEIROPHOBIA [DREAMS]: As previously stated, Leliana is not a fan of dreaming. She quite often has night terrors, and as such is terrified of the very act of dreaming. She often works to tire herself out so much that she physically cannot dream. OVERALL DEDICATED: Having been raised to fulfill her duties as a White Dawn member, Leliana is incredibly dedicated in her job, and this dedication translates over to all other facets of her life. She is quite loyal to those she considers her friends, and will stick by their side so long as it doesn't mean betraying her order or her principles. RESERVED: Leliana tends to avoid speaking unless directly involved in a conversation, and even then will tend to hold back on details. She tends to keep her information to herself, and will only share said information if there is a clear reason for doing so. OBSERVANT: Leliana is quite talented at picking out details in any given situation, including expressions and social cues as well as oddities in the environment. This is quite helpful in her job as a scout for the White Dawn, as it allows her to report accurate and potentially life-saving information. KIND: Above all else, Leliana strives to be kind and charitable to all of her fellow pokemon. This includes aiding those in need, with no request for a reward, and simply being polite to those she cares about. This means she rarely, if ever, has anything rude to say about a friend. VENGEFUL: Despite her kind nature, Leliana tends to hold grudges for the slightest of insults. She will not let an affront to her or a friend slide, and will actively pursue justice through extremely controversial means. SECRETIVE: Part of Leliana's job is maintaining secrets for the sake of doing good. Unfortunately, this has bled into her personal life, and she is reluctant to share anything about herself. MANIPULATIVE: Part of being a good scout includes knowing how to manipulate others. Leliana often knows the exact right things to say in order to convince others to do or say something they might not otherwise do. This can include dishonesty and other forms of deception. PRAGMATIC: Leliana always does what's best for the whole, rather than selfishly focus on things close to her. This can lead her to lose a dear friend in efforts of saving a group of civilians. She is also fairly unemotional when it comes to killing, ensuring to finish her opponents, lest they come back and finish her in the future. HISTORY // BUT WHY? In the past, there was a general of the Invictus Military named Sir Gawain, was a very influential and powerful Gallade. He was one of the most talented soldiers in the military, and he had trained his whole life in order to be recruited into the White Dawn, whose existence he had learned of while speaking to a good friend. This good friend was a member of the White Dawn, and accidentally let this information slip while intoxicated. After that, Gawain had always expected to be recruited into the order, but it never happened. He would later learn that the order had avoided recruiting him due to his temper and blood knight personality. This only made his rage grow more. After years of fighting against different nations as well as Delcatty's forces, Gawain settled down with a beautiful young Gardevoir named Aurea. Now an elder and incapable of battle, Gawain wished for a son to uphold his legacy and become a member of the White Dawn, just as he always wished. However, he was severely disappointed when Aurea only gave birth to girls, three in total, each a year appart. They were dubbed Kyria, Leliana, and Isabella. Given that female Kirlia could only evolve into Gardevoir, Gawain had to face the fact that none of his daughters would uphold the legacy he had dreamed for his child. But Gawain resolved to get a child into the White Dawn, no matter what, and decided to train them anyway. Deciding that magicks were "a coward's weapon", despite Gardevoir being adept in magical arts, he taught each of his daughters to wield a sword, steel as opposed to natural such as his own, as soon as they evolved into Kirlia. Kyria was easily the most adept with a blade, and outshone both her sisters in pillars of warfare. Isabella, however, proved to be the most adept at the strategy of warfare, able to plan and calculate different strategies to defeat her sisters. Leliana was neither adept at swordplay nor at strategies, and instead spent much of her time with her mother, sewing and knitting and learning the arts of magick. Despite Isabella's sheer strategic prowess and passable swordplay, her father often paid the most praise to Kyria, valuing her sheer power over Isabella's strategic advantage. The two sparred often, each winning about half the time, and yet Gawain only paid much praise to Kyria. This unlocked a deep rage inside Isabella, one that made her felt inferior due to being younger and less adept with swords. She trained and she trained and she trained, but still, her father only paid attention to Kyria. Something inside Isabella snapped. One day, during a spar, she took things too far. She began to strike at exposed joints and weak points, leaving serious injuries. Her father, finally seeing some use out of her, encouraged her, despite Kyria's cries to stop. She slashed and she slashed and she slashed, and finally had Kyria down to her knees. Isabella was seeing red, filled with all the anger and frustration of the past few years, and moved to finish her sister off, and would have if not for the intervention of her other sister. Weak of body, diving in front of Isabella's sword proved a fatal mistake for Leliana. It only took a single blow across the chest to kill her, and Isabella, seeing her kind and peaceful sister fall, was snapped out of her rage. Covered in blood and staring down at the dead body of one sister as well as the terrified expression of the other, Isabella was overwhelmed with regret and disgust with herself, so she fled, taking only her sword with her. Her mother screamed at her to come back, but her father just watched her run, calling her a coward beneath his breath. Isabella wandered the countryside for a few years, seeking redemption for her mistakes. She aided those in need, but was constantly bombarded with nightmares about her fallen sister. One day, a recruiter from the White Dawn found her aiding in the protection of a caravan, and invited her to join their ranks. It was a somewhat ironic moment, considering how often she had been pressured to join the White Dawn from birth, but she accepted. When asked her name, Isabella told them she was called Leliana, seeking to abandon her old, bloodsoaked name and honour her sister's memory. Her hope was that she would never forget her sister's sacrifice so long as she was called by that name. Soon, she was trained in a more proper manner. She insisted on still using her sword, but was trained in a method of using a Gardevoir's natural magical abilities in order to enhance her swordfighting. This included channeling the magic into the sword and releasing it, creating a beam-like effect. This improved her fighting prowess immensely. One day, while doing a training mission, a band of raiders attacked a local tavern she was staying at. Dueling three enemies all on her own, she finally evolved into a Gardevoir, and finished them off with a Moonblast from her sword. This mission led to her being fully inducted into the White Dawn. On the eve of her induction into the White Dawn, she returned to her family home to make amends. She sat down with her mother, who was both happy and scared to see her, and was told that Kyria had fled the family home not too long after Isabella had, and that she had not been home since. Her mother also explained that they had another child since then, a boy named Greil, who her father doted on unceasingly. At that moment, her father returned home with said boy and grew enraged at the sight of Leliana. She challenged him to one-on-one combat, and he agreed. Fortunately for Leliana, Gawain was no expert in terms of combat. He was powerful, to be sure, but he had no sense of tactics at all. Using her newfound powers and strategy, Leliana soon had him on his knees. With a nod to her mother and brother, she left once more, feeling a sense of ease she had not felt in years.
