It almost felt like home to say the least. After leaving Invictus' capital, Skyler found himself heading straight towards his usual training ground in the dungeon called Explorer's Respite. While the dungeon wasn't as intense as any of the other one's available, this one was perfect for him. After all, he was still considered to be a rookie Explorer meaning that he didn't really have too much experience. To say the least, he still wasn't that confident in his abilities despite training with his father in the past. Times were changing and his father was getting older which meant that he couldn't rely on the old Decidueye anymore.
This was actually his first time setting foot in the dungeon alone, which was pretty nerve-wracking. While things seemed peaceful at the moment, Skyler knew better than to lower his guard. The vicious Pokemon roaming around the dungeon would surely be able to get the best of him if he wasn't careful. He had to just put what he learned from school and his father to the test, and what better way to do that than to actually explore the dungeon? He wasn't a little kid anymore so he didn't have to stick to the outskirts of the Explorer's Respite.
"I think it's time to move forward..." Skyler mumbled to himself, taking the time to look around his surroundings to ensure that he wasn't being watched by a possible threat.
Due to being one foot in height, he had to fly over the tall grass to see scope the area out, before flying back down to give his wings a rest. While he knew that he could probably just keep flying around the dungeon, he also knew that he had to conserve his energy for battle rather than on flying. Not to mention that if he just kept to the ground he wouldn't be as easy of a target. After all, even if his chances of being snuck up on were greater on the ground, he preferred that rather than being spotted from miles away in the air.
It wasn't until a few minutes of wandering through the tall grass that something caught his attention. "I'm being followed." The owl thought, coming to the conclusion after hearing grass rustling behind him. By the sounds of it, whatever the Pokemon was seemed to be coming fast.
Flapping his wings as fast as he possibly could, he felt his feet being lifted off of the ground until he was midflight, just barely in time to avoid the creature colliding into him with a vicious tackle.
After looking closely it didn't take Skyler too long to make out the Pokemon that had suddenly attacked him.
Level 12
"A Tauros?" He asked himself, still unsure until the normal type turned around to face him after stopping itself in its tracks.
"Definitely a Tauros..."
While the quadruped Pokemon was definitely bigger than him in size, he had the slight advantage of being able to fly which meant that getting around much easier. Of course, it didn't guarantee that he would be able to dodge every attack the bull-like Pokemon threw at him.
For now he would wait for an opportunity to strike and gain the upper edge in battle, it was bound to make a mistake at some point after all.

"Don't get too comfortable because you got a lucky dodge in, brat!" The bull growled in frustration.
"I wouldn't dare." Skyler responded. Did Pokemon really get comfortable while in a battle anyway? Skyler never heard of any Pokemon lower their guard while in a battle unless they were really, really stupid.
The bull began to whip its three tails before charging forward yet again. However, this time instead of being able to get away in time, the grass typed owl underestimated the wild Pokemon's speed, before being struck by the powerful attack.
It was as if his entire body stopped functioning as his body tried to resist the force of the tackle attack. When his vision cleared up, Skyler found himself on the plain's ground with a small crater around him that formed due to the impact of the attack.
Pulling himself together and shaking his entire body, he flew back up into position. While it was true that he did take damage from the attack, it wasn't enough to knock him out. Not to mention that he was at a good enough distance away from the Tauros, meaning that he had a higher chance of avoiding whatever the Pokemon tried to throw at him next.
If he had to make an assumption, the normal type was probably going to come in for yet another close ranged attack.
"How did ya like that? It hurt didn't it?!" The Tauros roared, seemingly proud of its attack.
Great. It was one of those loud, rambunctious Pokemon. The type of Pokemon that he disliked with a passion. It only gave him a bigger incentive to get this battle over with as fast as possible. With a commotion like this, other wild Pokemon would soon be in the area too.
Not only did he hate loud Pokemon, he hated being outnumbered too. "That would be a correct conclusion considering the difference in both our weight and size." Skyler responded calmly, although he could still feel the pain from the attack.
Multiple growing leaves began to spiral around his green body like a tornado. With a whip of both of his wings, the glowing leaves would be launched over to his foe!
Shockingly enough, the Tauros didn't seem like it was planning on dodging the grass type attack. Instead, it charged forward towards both the attack as well as Skyler, its horns shining brightly giving him a warning about an incoming Horn Attack! Flapping his wings even faster, Skyler flew up even higher in order to grant further distance away from the rampaging bull. He felt the wind brushing against him, his heart beating wildly with excitement. He had always loved battling be it a Pokemon that was weaker than him or stronger than him.
Stopping in its tracks in shock, the Tauros looked up at Skyler, before being struck by the sharp, glowing leaves before growling in pain. "What, so you're hiding now? Typical coward!" The Pokemon boomed in anger. "How could ya even call yourself a Pokemon if you're just gonna just run?"
"I wouldn't say that I'm running. Just using what I have to gain the upper hand in this battle." Skyler responded, completely unfazed by the wild Pokemon's comments. "You have four legs don't you? Come and get me, I'm not that far away." He taunted.
It was just enough to get his opponent even more riled up, just as he planned. By the way it was acting, he was almost certain that it wouldn't be too hard for him to make the bull lose its composure.
The entire atomosphere seemed like it was changing at the moment, as if the Tauros' anger was overpowering every last inch of the area around him. It was even more visible through the Pokemon's appearance too! It's entire body began to glow red before the bull jumped up towards him, using a Rage attack!
"Checkmate."
Eyes glowing brightly, a flash of light would envelop the battlefield as Skyler used his confuse ray attack in hopes of confusing his foe, before finally dodging the Rage attack in the nick of time. Once the bull landed back down onto the ground, the Rowlet could tell that his plan had succeeded by the sight of the bull lashing out in random directions, hitting itself in confusion occasionally.
This battle would be over sooner than he thought, it was only a matter of time.

Now that his plan had succeeded he was growing more confident, although he wasn't overconfident to the point where the momentum he managed to create would be lost, he was much more smarter than to let tha occur. Skyler took a deep breath before diving towards the bull, his beak glowing brightly as he prepared a to strike the Pokemon with a peck attack. To say the least the feeling of his beak coming in contact with the skin of his opponent felt good, it essentially told him that the battle was slowly but surely moving towards his favor. And now that his opponent was in a confused state, his chances of winning increased tremendously.
Of course, there was still the slight chance of the Tauros being able to attack him while still confused, or worst case scenario, break out of the confusion completely.
Keeping all of this in mind, the owl knew that he had to seize victory as soon as he possibly could. And if it meant that he had to continuously attack the Tauros until it gave up completely then he would. Skyler gasped as soon as the Tauros turned around to meet him but before the Pokemon could strike, it slipped over its own legs, inflicting more damage to itself in confusion in the process of hitting its head against the ground. It wasn't until he saw this occur that he decided to dive in for yet another Peck attack, wasting no time to strike once more!
And yet again he felt his beak slam into his foe dealing even more damage! Once his attack hit its mark he flew back up into position in order to distance himself away from the four-legged Pokemon just in case it managed to regain its composure. While he had the opportunity to do so, he brushed the long leaf that resembled the one Dartrix's had to the side as it was starting to get in the way a little. "Just a little more..." Skyler murmured, watching his opponent from a distance.
Surprisingly enough, the worst case scenario occurred. The Tauros seemed to stop thrashing about wildly and instead stopped in its place, turning to face him in anger. "U-Using such cheap tactics. You dirty little-" The Pokemon was interrupted by what appeared to be a sudden realization of how much pain it was in. Shaking its head, "Get down here already and fight like a man...!" He growled, his voice growing weaker.
"This is it. The moment I've been waiting for." Skyler thought, quite happy with the results.
"I'm afraid that you've wasted enough time talking. It's time I put an end to this little charade."
Swinging both of his wings towards the Tauros' direction, leaves formed in front of Skyler before being launched towards the wild Pokemon at great speed! But Razor Leaf wasn't the only attack he planned on using, glowing leaves formed around his entire body in a spiral before also being sent towards his foes direction. He was ending this battle with a Razor Leaf and Leafage combination!
Caught by surprise by the sudden attack it was much too late for it to dodge. "T-This can't be! H-How could I lose to a lowly runt like you?!" He bellowed, before being struck by too attacks. A mini-explosion would occur, surrounding the battle field in black smoke and sending a gush of wind towards all directions, causing Skyler to lose his balance in the air.
Regaining his composure, Skyler landed himself back down on the grassy terrain below him, waiting for the results of the battle. While he was certain that he was the victor of the battle he couldn't be too sure. Not to mention that he couldn't just lower his guard now, especially when the combination attack sapped a ton of energy from him, much to his surprise. He would take note of how much energy was consumed due to using the two attacks consecutively in order to learn from it.
At last the outcome of the battle was made known as the remainder of the black smoke faded, revealing that Skyler was indeed the victor of the battle.
He let out a sigh of relief, just now realizing how exhausted he was from the battle despite not taken much damage from the battle. Nonetheless, he came to the Explorer's Respite to see what was at the end of it, there was no way he was stopping now.
After catching his breath, he made his way deeper into the dungeon, taking in everything around him. To say the least he was a happy Rowlet, not only did he come up top in a battle without his father aiding him, he was all alone with nature. It was the perfect way to spend his day. Boy did he love being an explorer!
Although Skyler wasn't alone for too long as the rustling of the tall grass began once more.

While Skyler finally realized that the rustlings weren't coming from one direction but two directions, he didn't have enough time to react to what was about to occur next. He felt a sudden rush of pain course throughout his small body as two Pokemon slammed into him with great strength, causing him to let out a screech of pain in the process.
"I told you it would work, lil' sis!" One voice would shout eagerly.
"I already told you that I believed in your, big bro!" The other voice responded in a higher pitch. "Did we win?"
Once Skyler's vision cleared back up, he could see two Pokemon standing in front of him. Most specifically, both Pokemon were cream-colored, with the only difference between them being that one of them had blue markings with minus symbols on both of his cheeks and the other one had red markings with plus symbols on the both of her cheeks. He came to the conclusion that the two of them were siblings, meaning that he was outnumbered. Just knowing that he was going to be battling one against two made him frustrated. While it probably wouldn't seem like a big deal to others, it definitely was a big deal to him. He absolutely hated unfair matchups like this.
Of course, he wasn't about to simply give up. He was taught to fight until the end, and after his battle with the Tauros he was confident in his abilities. If he truly wanted to become a great explorer then he had to overcome this obstacle.
"Awwww!" They both groaned in unison after the realization that Skyler was still standing, and was very much still ready to battle. "Darn! I really thought that after his battle with that scary Tauros he would be weakened just enough for us to win!"
"I know, right? He must be one tough Pokemon to be able to withstand the Sparking Duo's attack!"
"Sparking Duo?" Skyler questioned, before shaking his head soon afterward. In the situation he was in at the moment there was no way he could spend his time thinking about how ridiculous their team name sounded. Nonetheless, he had to take out the two Pokemon in order to proceed even further through the dungeon. Luckily for him, after his last bout with the Tauros he managed to get his hands on an Oran Berry. Even so, a single Oran Berry would only do so much over the entirety of this battle.
It wasn't going to be as easy as his battle against the Tauros, especially when the two in front of him were seemingly siblings, meaning that they probably had good teamwork. "Separate them from one another?" The thought entered his mind.
"Come. Let's get this over with." Skyler boomed, before swinging both of his wings forward towards his two opponents. Leaves formed in front of him seemingly out of thin air before firing towards the cream colored duo. While at first it seemed like the attack would hit, both wild Pokemon began to glow white boosting their speed using Quick Attack in order to avoid the sharp leaves. "Take this!" The Minun shouted, sparks forming around both of his cheeks before an electric wave shot out towards the avian.1
Leaping up from the ground and flapping his wings as fast as he could, Skyler just barely moved to the side just in time to avoid being paralyzed by the attack. If his movements were hindered while he was still outnumbered, the battle would be as good as done. Not to mention that he really wanted to conserve the oran berry as long as he possibly could.
Without realizing it, he had fallen for one of their dirty tricks. The Plusle came speeding towards him with yet another speedy attack, colliding into him and forcing him to the ground.
"I was a fool to think that the Thunder Wave was the only attack coming."
Letting out a grunt as he stood up from his current position, Skyler took the opportunity to strike the Plusle while it was still near him. This time, however, glowing leaves took form around him in a spiral before surrounding the Plusle in what looked like a tornado of leaves!2 The sharp leaves cut at the electric type Pokemon, causing a great amount of damage, fading once the attack was finished.
He wasn't alone with the cream and red colored Pokemon for too long though. A big white ball launched by the Minun was coming his way!3 While he didn't know what the attack was, he knew it wasn't good. Moving back up towards the air, his feet were caught by the attack. While it didn't seem like it dealt any damage to him, it was as if the attack caused him to forget how to use his other attacks! He was stuck using Leafage, which meant the battle was gonna be even more challenging than he had hoped.
The only thing Skyler could do now was gain the advantage over the two by staying up in the air. After all, it seemed like the Pokemon's only damaging attacks were physical ones, while their status inducing ones were long ranged. But that wasn't all he could do. Another plan formed in his mind that could possibly give him the edge he needed.

The two cream Pokemon groaned as soon as Skyler took flight in the air once more.
"Aww man big bro, he's back up in the air again, that is soooo unfair don't you think?" The female complained. "If only we had wings! Then we wouldn't have to deal with these pesky flying type Pokemon!"
"It's fine lil' sis! Let's just knock him down using our super cool electric type attacks! Besides, I hit him with an Encore attack so there's no way he'll be able to use any other moves than that weird grass attack he got you with! We'll be expecting it from a mile away!" Minun boomed cheerfully, before electricity began to spark from both of his cheeks again, the same thing happening for his sister too. As soon as enough energy was stored inside of their cheeks, they released the attack, waves of electricity flying towards Skyler at a rapid pace!1
Skyler didn't have much time to think about anything other than to avoid the attacks. So rather than just flying in place and leaving himself as an open target, the avian flew towards the waves of electricity before dodging and weaving through the terrifying attacks. Once again glowing leaves appeared around him seemingly out of thin air in a spiral fashion. Rather than launching the attack right away, Skyler flew closer towards his two opponents in order to get a more accurate hit on them.
"Lets go with our second combination, sis!" The electric type boomed, sparks forming once more.
"Already on it!" Rather than the usual yellow electricity forming around the cream and red colored Pokemon, light blue sparks formed instead! Once enough electricity was produced, the Plusle released the blue lightning up in the air before landing on the Minun, seemingly giving him a boost in power.2
Whatever the two were planning, Skyler wasn't going to have any of it! Once he was a few meters away from the duo, he released his own attack towards the two, only to be caught by surprise by how fast the Minun was moving, avoiding the entirety of the attack with ease! Unfortunately for his sister, however, after she launched the helping hand attack she couldn't avoid the incoming leaves, crying out in agony due to the intensity of the attack. The poor bipedal Pokemon was launched backward, hitting the ground with a loud THUD!
"Surprise!" The other bipedal cried out, his entire body enveloped by yellow electricity.3 "Crap!" Skyler gasped, attempting to fly away to no avail. Electricity began to course throughout his body, causing him immense pain thanks to the combination of Spark, and, Helping Hand which made the attack even stronger.
And once again the owl found himself flat on the ground, trying to process what hit him.
"Are you alright, sis?!" Skyler could hear the voice shout, a sound of concern in his voice. He heard the rustling of the grass moving away from him, meaning that during the last clash he managed to deal at least some amount of damage to the Plusle. Nonetheless, it gave the Rowlet just enough time to get back up on his two feet. Looking towards the two bipedal Pokemon he could see that the Minun was down on her right knee, bruises all around her body.
"Then she'll be the first one I'll take out." The plan entered his head.
"Behind you, big bro...!" The Minun shouted, her voice weak.
Green glowing leaves began to swarm around his body once more, once enough was produced a spiral of leaves launched straight out towards the two electric type Pokemon!4 "No, I won't let you go down like this, sis!" The Minun stood in front of his sister with the intent of taking the full force of the attack.
"W-What are you doing, big bro?! I'm already weak...Just let me take the attack instead of you!" His sibling pleaded to no avail. A few seconds after she tried to reason with her brother, the Minun was engulfed by the attack, sending him spiraling out of control before falling flat on his face once the leaves faded.
"What big brother would abandon his little sister in her time of need...?" The cream and blue colored Pokemon questioned, forcing himself up next to his sister.
Although the moment was cute and showed the bond the two electric type Pokemon had with one another, Skyler knew that he couldn't let his guard down, especially against two wild Pokemon who had the intent of taking him down straight after his previous battle. No matter what he was going to come at the two with victory in his mind.
"Are you two finished yet? I'm just getting started." He asked, taking out the Oran Berry he acquired earlier, taking the opportunity to bite into it until all of it was consumed. It wasn't instantaneous, but he could feel his energy slowly returning to him.

Was the battle nearing its climax? Skyler wasn't too sure about it. While it did seem like the Plusle was in a weakened state, and that the Minun had indeed taken a decent amount of damage too, the owl couldn't be too sure of it. Once again brushing the long leaf-like hair to the side, all he could do was stay in his position to see what the two siblings would try next. Whatever plan they came up with, he would be ready to strike back one way or another. It really didn't seem like the two electric type Pokemon were special considering all of their damaging attacks were physically based. Meanwhile, he had an assortment of attacks ranging from physical, to special, and even some status ones!
"You're not gonna win this battle after how much pain you put my sister into!" The Minun growled in anger.
"Was it not you two that decided to attack me first?" Skyler questioned, not understanding the Pokemon's logic. "I'm simply defending myself against you two. Once one decides to step foot into a dungeon such as this one, they should expect some consequences if things don't go well." He added.
"W-What would someone like you know about wild Pokemon like us?!" The high-pitched voice asked. The wild Plusle forced herself up next to her brother despite all of the pain she was in. "Enough talk! Let's come up on top, big bro!"
The cream and red bipedal's cheeks began to produce yellow sparks once more before the electricity engulfed her entire body. Meanwhile, the other Pokemon would follow her lead, and before Skyler knew it both Pokemon had electricity visibly coursing throughout their entire body! It didn't take the two too long to charge towards him with the intent of knocking him out.1
Although Skyler could still feel the effects on the Encore on him, he could feel it slowly fading away as time progressed. Either way, it wouldn't matter to him. After all, he had an advantage with attacks that could be used from a distance. But rather than launching yet another Leafage attack at his two foes, he simply stood there, waiting until the two got closer and closer. Once they were a few inches away from him, he launched his grass type attack, a spiral of leaves forming around him just in time to engulf the two Pokemon in a tornado of sharp leaves.2
And yet again, both were launched spiraling out of control before hitting the ground with nothing to cushion them from the force of impact. This battle was as good as his, and he knew it too. The dungeon wasn't one where beginners could go to train after all. While the two in front of him gave him a decent challenge and even forced him to use an oran berry, they didn't even deal enough damage for his ability, Overgrow to kick in! He seemed to be a bit stronger than them in terms of levels too.
Much to Skyler's surprise, both Pokemon stood back up from the attack, all electricity gone from their cheeks. However, the cream and red colored bipedal didn't seem like she fully recovered from the attack, and fell straight back to the ground unconscious. At last, Skyler could feel the Encore's effects wear off of him, which meant that his other moves were once again available to him. "One down, one to go."

"T-There's no way that this could be happening...It was a perfect plan, there were two of us and only one of you, not to mention that you took damage against that Tauros! And now my poor little sister is hurt badly because of I decided to try and get the easy win with a sneak attack!" The electric Pokemon growled in frustration, staring at his fainted sister with a look of defeat on his face. "But even so...My sister would make fun of me if I just gave up after committing to this battle! I won't let you win without giving a good fight!" He roared, body being surrounded by a veil of white light once more.1
It didn't take too long for the weakened Pokemon to charge towards Skyler. Since the grass typed avian didn't have too long before the Minun came into contact with his body, rather than wasting time using Leafage, he let out a growl in order to reduce the wild Pokemon's attack stat in order to lessen how much damage he would take from the speedy attack. Finally, he felt the full force of the Pokemon's body slam into him, knocking the air out of him for a moment and sending him backwards.
Thankfully, Skyler managed to regain control of his body, using the opportunity to land on his two feet without taking additional damage if he were to slam into the ground.
The battle wasn't going to last for much longer, which meant that he had to keep up the pressure. In order to do so, he whipped both of his wings forward causing leaves to form in front of him and fly towards the bipedal at great speed!2 Much to the owl's surprise, it seemed like the Minun had just enough energy to dive to the side and avoid the attack completely! In order to counterattack, the Minun used yet another speedy Quick Attack hoping to catch Skyler by surprise once more.
"Sorry, But I'm afraid play time's over." Skyler stated, glowing leaves appearing around him in a spiral for the last time.3 Once his opponent was close enough, the leaves collided into the poor Pokemon's body, overwhelming him until he was knocked out cold.

Once Skyler was absolutely certain that the two electric type Pokemon wouldn't just stand up and launch yet another sneak attack on him, he couldn't help but collapse on to his back, while the Oran Berry restored most of his health, he was still quite exhausted from the battle. It was something that he had to get used to if he wanted to continue on with his dungeon explorations without tiring himself out completely.
After giving it a few minutes, the grass and flying type found himself traveling further into the dungeon, keeping an eye out for any other Pokemon that wanted to sneak up on him. After climbing one of the hills of the dungeon, the explorer happened to find a seed at the very top. Thinking that it was a trap, Skyler took a few moments to look down every side of the hill, in case there were wild Pokemon attempting to climb up. Once he came to the conclusion that he was safe, he picked up the sleep seed, putting it in his bag to use when he needed it.

Today was a nice day, perfect even! The sun was beating down on his back and warming him from his mask to the tips of his toes, the grass only reached up to his chest, and the military told him to go out and train a little! He packed his bags full of seeds and berries, tied it to his back, and set off! Obviously, he was nearly dancing through the dungeon, no real indication that he was feeling in any threat at all. "Command to Fleet, come in Fleet." He mumbled to himself, deepening his voice to an almost comical degree, "Oh hi!" He chirped back to himself, "Mm-hm, doing great, hope to have...some...fun..."
He halted, mask creaking as he tilted his head. Three unconscious ferals lay in the grass, bearing wounds of...leaves? Fleet raised a paw to adjust his mask, which had started pulling down in the most uncomfortable ways, as he chittered deep in thought. Some grasses were flattened nearby, whoever had fought the three had done a great job of it, Fleet even felt a bit of admiration in his chest! He wanted to meet this guy!
Whatever way Skyler would look at it, it was not a stealthy search. Fleet's height meant even trying to crawl through the dungeon, he could be seen by anyone with a higher vantage point...or you know, eyes.
Still, his own keen vision would mean he would spot movement up on the hills, and he immediately started up it. "Heya buddy!" He barked, having not quite seen Skyler but giggling for a moment in how his mask resonated in response to his voice, "Those three back there? Awesome fight, huh?" His voice was unbearably loud in such a suspenseful dungeon, and it was quite obvious the sight of him, if not his voice, was probably giving them away.

After having acquired the sleep seed and put it in his bag, Skyler was about to just take the opportunity to just lay down on top of the hill and spend some time relaxing, looking up at the beautiful sky above him. It was something he found himself doing quite often when he had the free time to do so, and since he had the vantage point of being up on a hill, if a wild Pokemon decided to try and sneak up on him he would see them from a mile away. And if he didn't feel like battling them? If they weren't a flying type Pokemon, he could simply fly away, as well as dodge any attacks he had to in order to escape. Maybe if he was lucky he would be able to find yet another hill to rest on.
While he did come to the Explorer's Respite to explore it until he reached the end and possibly encountered the boss, who said he couldn't take his time on doing so? The sun was still shining brightly which gave him many hours to spend alone.
At least that would have been the plan if he didn't decide to look around the hill one last time in order to ensure that he wouldn't be caught by surprise if he did decide to do what he had planned. Any other Pokemon could see the look of surprise on his face when he saw what seemed like a giant Pokemon in comparison to himself trudging up the hill he currently was on, and boy was the Pokemon bigger than him by many feet. It didn't take Skyler too long to recognize that the Pokemon coming towards him was a Type: Null.
He had heard all sorts of stories about them from school, and from the other civilians of Invictus. While they were created as tools for war, they weren't really the type of Pokemon to mess around with if they were unstable. But at the moment it didn't seem like this particular one was on a rampage or anything. It seemed to be quite the opposite by how the Pokemon was acting, which meant that he wouldn't have to flee or fight for his life. Either way, just by looking at Fleet he could see that the Pokemon wasn't your typical one, especially with how muscular it was to top off its height.
"Yes, I suppose you could say that." Skyler responded, remembering how exhilarating the battles were, even if he didn't want to admit it out loud. He couldn't help but notice how loud the big Pokemon's voice was. "What brings a Pokemon like you here?" He questioned.

Fleet looked as if he might be smiling, if the way his eyes creased at the Rowlet were any indication. " I mean, you're such a little guy, and you took all of them out! Oh, oh! I'm here for training, but I'm lucky to see another Pokemon like you!" He started to circle around the avian Pokemon, amphibious tail wagging, " Makes me want to show you what I can do, cause I can do a ton of stuff!" As if on cue, the grasses started moving in the beginning of the hill, shadowy and indistinct figures seemingly attracted by Fleet's brazen challenge. He cocked his head downward and pawed at his mask, snorting and chuckling, " Here we go!" Level 14 Nidoran With a shouted cry, a little Pokemon suddenly lunged from the grasses, aiming his horn right for Fleet. Already having seen the attack coming, he scrambled backwards, laughing childishly as he out ran the screaming beast. Suddenly his claws lashed out, laced in a crackling power, slicing across the Pokémon's face and sending it a good distance away. " Now we're talking!" Fleet chirped, stalking forward and rumbling hideously, " Let me show some of my skills!" His focused so centered on his chosen prey, Fleet paid no mind to the grasses, where more ferals could be watching and waiting. @skyler

Skyler kept a close eye on the much bigger Pokemon. Were the rumors of what the Type: Null were like wrong? Now that he thought about it, while there were unstable ones that could be roaming around, there was still the possibility of stable ones too. Just looking at this particular one's eyes meant that he wasn't in any danger for now. Although he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy about the situation he was in. Especially when he was a foot in height compared to the others monstrous height and physical appearance.
Rather than high-tailing out of the hill, he listened to what Fleet had to say, occasionally looking at the quadruped, chimera-like Pokemon's tail while doing so. If the Pokemon wanted to, one whip of that tail could send him flying miles away if he wasn't careful enough! "A ton of stuff?" Skyler asked, tilting his head to the side a little. All of a sudden a pinkish purple Pokemon jumped at the way bigger Pokemon, only to be launched away as if it was nothing! While the owl was impressed by how strong the Pokemon was, he was a bit frightened too.
The Pokemon's strength only demonstrated why its species were feared by many. The Nidoran didn't stand a chance against it. Comparing his own strengths to the Type: Null's, he too had doubts about how much of a fight he could give him. Whilst his previous three fights took a ton of effort to come up on top, Fleet didn't seem to be having any problems with the Nidoran and was even treating things like they were a game! Skyler already knew what the outcome of the battle would be, but he just stood there, interested in learning more about the Type: Null.
Of course, he took some time to look around to ensure other ferals weren't around to get a jump on him while he was watching. What wild Pokemon would want to attack after having witnessed the big Pokemon's power anyway?

Fleet chirped in triumph and hopped around his opponent, making mock charges just to see the little Pokemon jump. "Come on! Messenger with me and finish it, scared?" He barked and growled, putting on a fierce demeanour before casting a glance over at the Rowlet. Was he watching? He had to be, Fleet was showing off just for him!
A sudden impact sent him skidding back, ripping up grass as his claws dug into the ground. He hissed as a sudden pang ran up his side and looked down to see a neat little puncture in his shoulder. The Nidoran snorted in short-lived pride, shaking out his horn before charging again. Fleet ducked away, feeling it smack against his mask briefly before bouncing away. He let out an furious shriek, "That hurt! That really hurt!" He squawked, dropping the deep voice he had adopted during the battle.
He swung his claws again, the crackling energy turning a deep red that seemed to originate from his wounds. The Nidoran only had time for his eyes to widen before Fleet slammed into it, and again, and again. By the time he finished, all that could be said is that he won, he certainly won. "Well...phew...see? I'm great at...huff...this..." He suddenly perked up and trotted over to the Rowlet, "Oops! I'm being rude! Hi! I'm Fleet!"

Boy did the Type: Null really want him to watch the battle. Skyler just stood there, making eye contact with the bigger Pokemon for a split second before he was attacked by the Nidoran. But like Skyler thought earlier, the poor wild Pokemon didn't stand a chance against someone as strong as the chimera-like Pokemon it was battling. And just like that in what seemed like only a few minutes, or even seconds of the battle, the Type Null who called himself Fleet was back in front of him as happy as ever, although for a few moments there it seemed like he was out of breath.
Either way it was as if the mysterious Pokemon's battle was childs play to him! "I'm Skyler." The avian responded, trying to keep a straight face. He was still slightly worried that any moment now if he made one mistake that the Pokemon would just attack him. To say the least, he didn't quite want something like that to occur, which meant that it was probably best if he stayed on Fleet's good side. As for keeping up a conversation? Skyler was clueless as to how that could be done. After all, he was a Pokemon who preferred to seclude himself from others unless he was in a mission that required others.
It wasn't like he hated being around other Pokemon, he simply didn't find it necessary to interact with others when he could spend his time alone, reading a book or just staring up at the sky aimlessly. "You didn't seem to have a hard time against that feral...Are you a part of the military too?" He asked, curious. Although he was wondering if he should rephrase his question, after all he preferred to call himself an explorer rather than someone who was a part of the military but thought that it was wiser to go with the more, formal word.

Fleet lowered himself until he was nearly eye to mask with the newly learned Skyler, "Hiya Skyler, nice to meet ya!" He wobbled side to side with the force of his tail, even without his exposed head, it was obvious he was overjoyed with the meeting. His wound didn't seem to trouble him, it was dubious whether he had even noticed it with the far more important task of talking ahead of him
He shot up and stood up tall at Skyler's question, "Yup, they took me in, trained me really good!" He knocked on his mask as he continued blabbing, interrupting his words briefly as the noise drowned out his voice, "They say I'm "good" now but I'm not really sure what that means...I'm always good!" Throughout his speech, he slowly lowered himself until he was again equal with the Rowlet, "Why you ask? Do you wanna come into the military, they're really fun! Trust me!"
Except for brief glances toward the grasses, Fleet was pretty invested in his conversation.

Well...Fleet was awfully close. Skyler couldn't help but feel uncomfortable by how close the Pokemon's mask was to his own eyes, blinking a couple of times before awkwardly brushing the long-leaf curl around his face to the side once again. "A pleasure to meet you too." He responded. While it was a simple response like all of his other ones, he knew it got the message across. It wasn't like he had anything important to say to the chimera-like Pokemon standing before him after all.
It wasn't until when the mysterious Pokemon responded to his question that he was truly on board with the conversation. "They trained you?" The Rowlet questioned, not quite understanding who they were. "Anyway, you don't seem to be attacking just about anything that stands before you, so I suppose that proves that you are indeed good."
"I may be small but I too am a part of the military, believe it or not." He stated, his voice remaining calm to ensure that Fleet knew that his question didn't bother him. "Anyway, were you planning on reaching the end of this dungeon too?"
While he was still uncertain of whether or not he should be around Fleet, the Pokemon was also affiliated with the military, which was certainly more better than coming across an outlaw he couldn't fully trust. Since the two of them were in the Explorer's Respite together, he couldn't help but feel that rather than going through it alone, it would be wiser for him to travel with someone else. Besides, there was a part of him wanted to learn more about what his fellow military companion could do.
